Job Title: Surgical Technician - Neuro/ENT About the Facility Located in Milwaukee 938-bed tertiary care hospital Level III Trauma Center Magnet-designated facility Primary Stroke Center Level III NICU High-acuity surgical environment with advanced specialty programs Position Overview We are seeking an experienced Surgical Technician specializing in Neuro/ENT to support complex neurosurgical procedures in a fast-paced operating room environment. ⚠ Important Requirement: Candidates must have strong Neuro experience and be comfortable with advanced neurosurgical procedures, including EVD setup . ⚠ Note: First-time travelers are not recommended and require supervisor approval.Unit Overview 21 Operating Rooms 1:1 patient ratio High-volume, multi-specialty surgical department Cross-training required across Main OR specialties Required Qualifications Minimum 2+ years of Surgical Technician experience (Neuro/ENT specialty) Strong recent Neuro case experience required Certifications: BLS (Basic Life Support) - Required CST (preferred, if applicable per candidate profile) Required Skills - Neuro Focus (MANDATORY) Candidates must have hands-on experience with: Craniotomies (Crani) External Ventricular Drain (EVD) setup (required) Spine surgeries: laminectomies, fusions, discectomies Neuro instrumentation and sterile field setup Assisting in high-acuity neurosurgical procedures Additional Case Exposure (Preferred) ENT procedures Orthopedic cases General surgery including: Plastics Vascular Laparoscopic Oncology GU/GYN ⚠ Robotics: Experience with robotic systems is a plus No training provided unless candidate has strong prior experience and extended contract commitment Support & Resources Charge Nurses Team Leads Supervisors Collaborative OR team environment Technology & Equipment EMR: EPIC IV Pumps: Alaris Medication Dispensing: Pyxis Floating Cross-trained to: Main OR specialties Urology Center No floating to other hospitals/sites Orientation 1-1.5 weeks (based on team and shift) Scheduling Day Shift Start Times: Between 5:30 AM - 7:00 AM Weekend Requirement: None (routine schedule) RTO: Subject to hiring supervisor approval On-Call Requirements 30-minute response time required General/Neuro Call (8-week schedule): End-of-shift (EOS) call: Monday-Friday 1-2 weekend call shifts Orthopedic (if cross-trained): 1 weekday call per week 1 weekend call approximately every 5 weeks (Call schedule subject to change based on department needs) Holiday Expectations Option to: Work 4x10-hour shifts during holiday week Or take holiday unpaid (with approval) Additional Information Scrubs: Provided by hospital Scrub caps allowed (must be covered with surgical bouffant) Parking: Free Day shift: Detached lot (~2 blocks away) PM shift: On-site lot Amenities: On-site cafeteria and Starbucks Call Rooms: Not available Work Environment High-acuity, fast-paced neurosurgical OR Strong emphasis on technical expertise and teamwork Ideal for experienced Surgical Techs with deep Neuro specialization
