Phones are not always compatible.)POSITION PROPERTIESPosition TitleInstructional Aide - Elementary (K-5th), Summer 2026POSITION SUMMARY:PURPOSEThis position is to assist EL and classroom teachers in providing appropriate education for students who are learning English as a second language. This person reinforces educational concepts and skills, assists with students' acclimation to a new environment and culture, and implements lesson plans, as needed. The instructional aide should be able to assist with discipline intervention plans and assist with the planning process for instructional and academic goals. Ability to work with students in middle school and high school core content and elective classes is a must.This position is supported by federal funds and may not be renewed following the conclusion of the school year. This IA position will be placed in the English Learners program in a CPS secondary school, but it could be reassigned based on student need at any grade level in CPS.Note: All duties described in this job description are intended to be fulfilled either in online or in-person classes, or a combination of both, as determined by student and district needs.QUALIFICATIONS:Minimum: Missouri substitute teaching certificate; 36+ college credit hours, or Associates degree, or 20-hour DESE sub course. Prior experience in a school setting and/or working with young people.Preferred: Bachelor's degree, Missouri teaching certificate, previous teaching experience, ability to work in a team teaching setting; A strong desire to teach and be responsible for instructing children as assigned.Experience working with students Pre-K through Kindergarten and experience with classroom management.Ideal candidate will have a professional, friendly demeanor, is flexible and demonstrates the ability to work well with a variety of individuals in a fast-paced environment.To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
