We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Optometric Technician to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will assist in providing exceptional patient care within a busy optometry clinic. This role involves supporting clinical operations, managing patient intake, and ensuring accurate documentation while maintaining compliance with HIPAA regulations. The Optometric Technician will play a vital part in delivering comprehensive eye care services, utilizing optical and medical office experience to enhance patient experiences and clinic efficiency.
Responsibilities
Greet and assist patients during their visit, ensuring a smooth intake process
Collect vital signs and perform preliminary assessments to support diagnosis and treatment planning
Prepare patients for eye examinations by conducting preliminary tests, including visual acuity and refraction procedures
Maintain accurate medical records
Assist with ophthalmic procedures, ensuring aseptic technique and patient safety standards are upheld
Educate patients on optical products, lens options, and retail sales opportunities while maintaining professionalism in retail interactions
Support front desk operations including scheduling appointments, verifying insurance information, and managing patient flow
Handle medical terminology documentation, coding, billing, and records management in compliance with HIPAA regulations
Collaborate with optometrists to facilitate efficient clinic operations and patient care delivery
Maintain a clean and organized clinical environment adhering to safety protocols
Requirements
Excellent patient care skills with the ability to communicate effectively and compassionately with diverse patient populations, including pediatrics when applicable
Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient confidentiality and data security
Ability to perform intake procedures, vital signs collection, and basic clinical assessments accurately
Experience with retail sales, retail math, and front desk operations is advantageous
Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in medical records management and billing processes
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining professionalism and accuracy

Pay: $15.00 - $17.00 per hour
