Level 2 NOC Engineer
LEVEL 2 NOC ENGINEER – SECOND SHIFT
Location: 100% Remote –
Schedule: Full-Time, Second Shift, aligned with Pacific Time
Compensation: $125,000-$135,000 annually
We are recruiting a Level 2 NOC Engineer for an established managed technology services provider supporting businesses throughout Southern California and across the country.
This is a 100% remote position, but second-shift availability is an absolute requirement.
We need an experienced infrastructure support professional who can independently troubleshoot server, network, cloud and Microsoft 365 issues across multiple client environments. This is not an entry-level help desk position. You will take ownership of escalated incidents, investigate monitoring alerts, restore services and engage senior engineering resources when an issue requires deeper expertise.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
* Monitor client infrastructure, systems, networks, backups and security alerts
* Respond to incidents and service requests according to established priorities and SLAs
* Troubleshoot escalated Level 2 issues involving servers, networks, Microsoft 365, cloud services and end-user environments
* Support Windows Server, Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP and related Microsoft technologies
* Troubleshoot Microsoft 365, Exchange Online, Entra ID and user-access issues
* Diagnose network connectivity, VPN, firewall, switching, wireless and internet-related problems
* Investigate server performance, storage, virtualization and application availability issues
* Monitor and remediate backup, patching, antivirus, EDR and system-health alerts
* Use remote monitoring, management and ticketing platforms to investigate and resolve issues
* Perform remote administration, configuration changes and preventative maintenance
* Escalate complex infrastructure and security issues with complete technical documentation
* Communicate clearly with clients regarding incidents, progress and resolution
* Document troubleshooting steps, system changes and final resolutions
* Maintain clean, accurate and timely ticket documentation
* Participate in shift handoffs to ensure open incidents are transitioned properly
* Identify recurring issues and help develop permanent solutions
* Collaborate with Level 3 engineers, project teams and outside technology vendors
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
* At least three years of experience in a NOC, MSP, systems administration or infrastructure support environment
* Demonstrated experience independently resolving Level 2 technical issues
* Strong Windows Server and Active Directory administration experience
* Working knowledge of Microsoft 365, Exchange Online and Entra ID
* Solid understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPNs, firewalls, switching and wireless networking
* Experience troubleshooting servers, networks, cloud platforms and virtualization technologies
* Familiarity with remote monitoring and management tools, PSA platforms and ticketing systems
* Experience supporting multiple clients or business environments simultaneously
* Ability to prioritize incidents and work effectively within established service levels
* Strong troubleshooting instincts and the ability to work through unfamiliar technical problems
* Clear written and verbal communication skills
* Strong attention to documentation and operational detail
* Ability to work independently in a fully remote environment
SCHEDULE REQUIREMENT
This position works a consistent second-shift schedule aligned with Pacific Time. Candidates must be available to work the complete assigned shift. This is not a rotating-shift or choose-your-own-hours position.

* Previous experience working for a managed service provider
* VMware or Hyper-V administration
* Microsoft Azure infrastructure support
* Backup and disaster-recovery platforms
* Firewall and network-security technologies
* Endpoint protection, EDR or managed security tools
* Server patching and vulnerability remediation
* Microsoft, CompTIA, Cisco, VMware or related technical certifications
