Job Description:
Audit work orders to ensure quality and production requirements have been met
Make decisions on the best methods for packaging various customized materials
Package finished materials safely and securely to prevent damage in transit
Utilize a computer to generate shipping labels and packing slips for each shipment (e.g. UPS, FedEx, and DHL systems)
Consolidate and band skids for shipping of finished products
Lift and manually transport materials and packages to designated skids and carts
Coordinate with shipping manager and outbound freight handler for outbound freight scheduling
Make informed decisions to overship or undership
Create new skids for customers as necessary
Prepare surplus items for return to stock
Required Knowledge and Skills:
Basic computer operations skills
Basic understanding of PC operations (e.g. web page, drop down box, printing, etc.)
Ability to read a work order
Advanced understanding of UPS, FedEx, and DHL systems for creating shipments, generating labels/slips, and tracking shipments
Have an understanding of customer logistics requirements
Ability to think critically about shipment decisions and their consequences
1-2 years of logistics experience is preferred
Physical Requirements:
Requires frequent standing and walking for eight or more hours per day
Requires frequent reaching and the use of arms for wrapping and packing finished goods
Requires frequent bending and squatting
Ability to repeatedly lift materials and packages (up to 50 pounds) from the ground, carts, and forklifts
Ability to work in an environment without a controlled temperature
