Job Summary: As a Structured Cabling Technician, you’ll play a crucial role in installing, terminating, and testing network cabling systems in diverse commercial environments. We specialize in cutting-edge solutions using low voltage copper and fiber optic technologies for data, voice, audiovisual, surveillance, and card access systems. You’ll complete a range of tasks including service/repair, alterations, installations, and maintenance of structured cabling systems. Duties/Responsibilities: Perform installations and service of low voltage category cabling and communication systems. Install cable pathways and terminate voice, video, and data cables. Build and configure telecom equipment rooms according to plans and verbal instructions. Conduct thorough testing of copper and fiber optic cabling. Terminate field polish and mechanical fiber optic connectors. Assist in project organization and share knowledge with team members. Safely utilize power tools, ladders, and Mobile Elevated Work Platforms (MEWP). Collaborate with other trades professionals (e.g., electricians, locksmiths). Continuously seek to enhance skills and improve job knowledge. Communicate effectively and timely with team members. Maintain cleanliness and organization of job sites. Follow safety regulations and protocols at all times. Read and understand building layouts and floor plans. Assist in equipment and supply inventory management. Required Knowledge/Abilities/Behaviors: Mechanical aptitude with a solid understanding of basic tools. Computer proficiency, including familiarity with MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook). Trustworthy, dependable, and dedicated team player. Required Experience/Education/Certifications: Experience with Fluke DSX-5000, DSX-8000 Level 4 testers preferred. Familiarity with OTDRs, power meters, and light sources a plus. Knowledge of TIA standards for cabling. BICSI, manufacturer, or industry certifications OR a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience. Experience in surveillance, card access systems, A/V, paging, CATV, and wireless networks beneficial. Experience with Visio, Bluebeam, or CAD software a plus. High School diploma or equivalent. Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record. Physical Demands: Ability to stand, kneel, bend, and climb ladders for extended periods. Comfortable with sitting during travel via vehicle or airplane. Capable of lifting up to 40 pounds and differentiating wire colors. Proficient in working at heights using Mobile Elevated Work Platforms (MEWPs). Additional Requirements: Successful completion of background check and drug test.
