Rise-Up Ranch Support Coach (Part-Time/Full-Time)
Job Summary
In this part-time role (4:00-11:00pm or 7:30am-4:00pm) you will provide life enriching direction to people taking a de-tech sabbatical at the ranch. We ask that you are able to observe, assess and understand human behavior, think critically and act ethically using input from the offsite therapy team of clinicians, coaches, and program staff. Ideal candidates will engage and educate these young adults with fun, laughter, and challenge as they promote the benefits of an active (non-digital) lifestyle. At the ranch you will care for, and interact with horses, goats, chickens, kittens and dogs. Duties will include feeding, turning out, help with stall cleaning, and general farm work according to skill. The ideal candidate will have a fondness for animals and be familiar with caring for horses. You will also drive a Suburban or van often, so youll need to be comfortable behind the wheel of a sweet ride.
In this position you will:
Ensure horses and other animals are well cared for, fed, groomed, and loved
Monitor the clients daily activities and maintain peace and harmony amongst the clients
Maintain a clean and orderly environment by setting an example for the clients, working along with them to maintain neat and orderly cabin and ranch environment.
Instruct and monitor the clients on proper daily hygiene, especially when handling animals
Collaborate and work with the ranch crew to enhance the vocational training and animal care program
Oversee safety, health and well-being of the clients
Plan, organize and implement lesson plans according to each persons individual needs
Monitor and implement reSTART housing guidelines, policies, philosophies, handbooks, fire safety rules
Provide safe transportation, insure wearing of seat belts, and that all ranch roads and highway regulations are followed. All vehicles will be cared for properly, cleaned after each use and inspected on a daily basis.
Learn ranch activities such as, animal care, safety, equipment.
Develop and lead a variety of small group and individual activities
Communicate individual progress, problems, and/or events with the offsite therapeutic team
Provide a positive and safe living/recreation environment and experience for clients
Take appropriate action when clients are missing, ill, injured, or otherwise impaired
Be able to set appropriate boundaries with others and hold them accountable
Maintain certifications (e.g., first aid, CPR, etc.) as required
Transport clients to community meetings and activities
Complete end-of-shift reports and relevant documentation as required
Be the primary staff member on duty during shift
Be punctual and dependable; conduct yourself in a professional manner
Perform other duties as assigned
Engage with clients with mental health challenges
Qualifications: The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required to successfully perform this job.
Education/Experience:
Have a high school diploma or high school or high school equivalency course of study (GED/HSEC),
At least one year of successful full-time work experience; and
Experience with emerging youth and adults in educational, mental health, and/or residential setting a plus.
This position requires some travel and flexibility of work schedule.
General Qualifications
Be at least twenty-one years of age or between eighteen and twenty-one years of age if enrolled in an internship or practicum program with an accredited college or university and can provide sufficient documentation (state requirements).
Have the skills and ability to work successfully with the special needs of clients in care and:
Effective problem-solving and healthy coping skills.
Ability to work with team of clinical and residential staff.
Good communication skills, positive team member, self-starter.
Additional Certificates, Licenses and Requirements:
Valid Washington driver’s license with a driving record that meets agency requirements
Valid Washington State food handler’s permit
Completion of CPR (in-person), First Aid
Proof of negative TB test
Pass criminal background check
Clean drug screen (including marijuana)
Experience with addiction, either professionally or personally, preferred.
Additional hours may be available if interested. Any job offer will be contingent upon the results of an updated background investigation.
