Program Coordinator
Job Title: Program Coordinator Department: Recreation Reports To: Recreation Manager / Recreation Director
Position Summary The Program Facilitator is responsible for organizing, coordinating, and overseeing recreation programs and leagues for participants of various ages and skill levels. This role ensures programs run efficiently, promotes positive sportsmanship and participant engagement, and provides a high-quality recreational experience for the community.
Key Responsibilities Plan, schedule, and manage recreation programs, leagues, events, and activities
Coordinate participant registrations, rosters, schedules, and communication with participants, parents, coaches, or team managers
Serve as the primary point of contact for program participants, addressing questions and resolving issues in a professional manner
Oversee day-to-day program operations, including facility setup, equipment readiness, and activity supervision
Recruit, schedule, and communicate with officials, instructors, volunteers, and program staff as needed
Enforce program rules, policies, and sportsmanship standards
Track attendance, standings, scores, or other program-related records as applicable
Ensure participant safety and respond appropriately to incidents, injuries, or emergencies
Assist with marketing and promotion efforts to increase participation and community engagement
Evaluate program operations and recommend improvements for future programming
Maintain a positive, inclusive, and welcoming environment for all participants
Qualifications Strong organizational and communication skills
Ability to manage multiple tasks, schedules, and responsibilities effectively
Knowledge of recreation programming, sports leagues, or community activities preferred
Customer service experience and ability to handle conflict professionally
Ability to work evenings and weekends based on program schedules
Basic computer skills, including spreadsheets, scheduling software, and email communication
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Work Environment Work may take place indoors or outdoors depending on assigned programs and activities
Requires standing, walking, lifting light equipment, and general physical activity
Evening and weekend hours may be required during active program seasons or special events
Objective To deliver well-organized, safe, and enjoyable recreation programs that foster community engagement, teamwork, skill development, and positive recreational experiences for participants of all ages.
Compensation Flat rate of $1,000 per league administered.
