Maintenance Technician

Job Description Have you got the right qualifications and skills for this job Find out below, and hit apply to be considered.Job SummaryWe are seeking an experienced Maintenance Technician for mid-century apartments and houses located in the UofM Central Campus and Downtown Ann Arbor area. An ideal candidate will have excellent customer service skills, the ability to work as part of a team, and proficient technical skills including, but not limited to: carpentry, appliance repair, plumbing, electrical, drywall repair, and experience in unit turns. HVAC experience is a plus. You’ll make sure our rental properties are operating efficiently, regularly inspect our building for any damage, and conduct routine maintenance. The ideal person for this job is a reliable team player and a problem solver who has prior maintenance experience. Responsibilities Conduct routine repairs and preventative maintenance in student rental apartments and housesInspect the buildings for issues and perform necessary repairsAccurate and detailed record keeping of workDevelop and execute preventative maintenance measures to keep our buildings operating efficiently and prevent any safety risksHandle additional maintenance tasks as neededPhysical Demandsconstant activity that requires intermittent standing, bending, crouching, pushing/pulling, lifting/moving/carrying light and heavy loads, climbing stairs and laddersScheduleMonday - Friday: 9am - 5pm (weekend shifts and part time schedules available too!)On-Call rotation: 2 weeks on, 6-8 weeks offQualificationsHigh school diploma/GED or equivalentAt least 3 years of maintenance experienceKnowledge of plumbing systems, appliance repair, electrical systems, drywall repair, and heating and air conditioning unitsAdvanced understanding of maintenance equipment, procedures, and techniquesExcellent work ethic, communication skills, time management skills, and attention to detailRequirementsValid Driver's License and reliable vehicle Must own toolsSmart phoneAvailable to be on call for emergencies overnights and weekends on a rotation with other techniciansBenefitsMatching IRAVacation timePaid holidaysWho We AreVarsity Management started in 1963 with a handshake deal between friends on a single property located in Ann Arbor.Today, we are still a family-owned local small business.
