Shifts are 3x12 days. First-timers are not accepted. Weekends are required. Floating is required. Certifications required include ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS. Local candidates are not accepted. There are restrictions on time off requests; 2 requests can be pre-approved for auto offer. Guaranteed hours are 60 hours per two-week period. Unit Details: The unit cares for medically complex, critically ill patients. Common diagnoses include respiratory failure, cardiac arrest, multisystem organ failure, and various shock states. The unit performs various procedures such as bedside central and arterial line placements, chest tube placement, rapid sequence intubation, and code blue response. The standard nurse-to-patient ratio is 2:1. During times of high census, this ratio may increase. Travelers may be required to float to tele units should the need arise. Additional Information: The facility is a Level II Trauma Center with a total of 571 staffed beds. The environment is high acuity and fast-paced. Support services include IV Teams, Physical Therapy, Respiratory Services, and Social Services. The daily census typically averages around 25 patients. Most units are fully staffed, making floating a rare occurrence. All travelers are expected to float between various like units within their skill set.
