Regular or Temporary: Regular Language Fluency: English (Required) Work Shift: 1st Shift (United States of America) Please review the following job description: The Inside Underwriter executes underwriting activities in a structured environment by evaluating risk, applying carrier guidelines, and placing business within binding authority and brokerage markets. This role supports new and renewal production by underwriting business, solving coverage issues, and ensuring compliance with internal and carrier standards. The core function of this role centers on efficient underwriting execution, risk evaluation, and supporting business growth within defined authority and pricing parameters. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Following is a summary of the essential functions for this job. Other duties may be performed, both major and minor, which are not mentioned below. Specific activities may change from time to time. Underwrite new and renewal business within binding authority and brokerage markets, including evaluating risk, determining terms, and placing coverage in accordance with carrier and company guidelinesManage the underwriting process end-to-end, including submissions, quoting, binding, and policy confirmation within established authority levelsNegotiate coverage terms with carriers, including pricing, structures, and policy provisions, while ensuring alignment with underwriting strategyResolve underwriting and coverage issues by analyzing risk characteristics and applying appropriate solutions for retail agentsMonitor assigned accounts to ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and carrier underwriting guidelinesSupport production goals by driving new and renewal business activity and maintaining efficient workflow execution in a structured environment EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required. Bachelor's degree or relevant insurance designation preferredExperience within underwriting or brokering specialty or E&S insurance productsExperience expectations increase across the career path, with progression toward broader authority, complex risk evaluation, and independent decision-making CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONSAppropriate state-specific insurance license required. Additional certifications and designations may be pursued to support technical expertise and underwriting authority progression. FUNCTIONAL SKILLSStrong understanding of underwriting principles, risk evaluation, and policy structureAbility to independently analyze insurance risks and determine appropriate terms and conditionsKnowledge of binding authority guidelines and market placement strategiesStrong problem-solving skills with ability to resolve complex coverage and underwriting issuesEffective communication and relationship management skills with carriers and agentsAbility to manage high-volume underwriting workflows with accuracy and efficiency The annual base salary for this position is $65,000.00.
