Quality Control Specialist

PurposeJob DescriptionThe Quality Control Specialist – Construction is responsible for performing field audits, inspections, and quality checks on aerial and underground construction projects to ensure compliance with company standards, client specifications, safety regulations, and industry best practices. This role supports quality assurance efforts by identifying deficiencies, documenting findings, and promoting continuous improvement in construction workmanship and operational performance.ResponsibilitiesEvaluate completed construction work against client specifications, engineering designs, company standards, and safety requirements Identify defects, workmanship issues, and compliance gaps, and accurately document findings through reports and photo validation Verify proper installation techniques for aerial and underground telecommunications infrastructure Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, NESC standards, utility requirements, and company safety policies Review construction practices related to pole attachments, grounding/bonding, splicing enclosures, handholes, pedestals, and restoration quality Provide real-time feedback and coaching to field crews, subcontractors, and supervisors regarding quality expectations and corrective actions Monitor adherence to project scope, build specifications, timelines, and customer requirements Complete audit reports, inspection documentation, and quality tracking using company systems and software platforms Identify recurring quality trends and support retraining and process improvement initiatives Participate in quality improvement efforts, standardization initiatives, and operational reviews Coordinate with construction management, engineering, and field leadership to resolve quality concerns and ensure corrective action completion Key Measures / Key Performance Indicators: Audit accuracy and inspection completion ratesIdentification and reduction of construction defects and reworkQuality compliance scores and defect ratesCrew improvement following coaching/retrainingDocumentation accuracy and timelinessContribution to overall service quality and customer satisfactionRequirementsEducation: High school diploma or equivalent preferredExperience2–4 years of experience in telecommunications construction, utility construction, or outside plant (OSP) field operationsExposureAerial and underground telecom construction environmentsFiber and coax construction standards and installation practicesDirectional boring, trenching, conduit placement, and restoration activitiesPole line construction, strand and lash work, grounding, and utility coordinationQuality assurance processes, inspections, and audit proceduresInteraction with field crews, subcontractors, supervisors, and customers in active construction environmentsFactors critical to success at ITG Communications for this position:Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality and accuracyAbility to identify issues and provide constructive feedback and coachingSolid understanding of installation standards and customer experience expectationsEffective communication with field teams and leadershipCommitment to safety and compliance standardsPhysical RequirementsAbility to stand, walk, and perform physical labor for extended periodsAbility to climb ladders and work at heightsAbility to bend, kneel, crouch, and work in confined spacesAbility to lift, carry, and move materials up to 75 poundsAbility to operate tools and construction equipment safelyAbility to work in all weather conditions and wear required PPEMust maintain a valid driver’s license and operate company vehicles safelyAdditional CommentsITG is an equal employment opportunity employer.
