Overview
As part of the TAP Infrastructure & Operations pod, you design, build, and operate scalable backend services and infrastructure for the Test Automation platform. You own core components like deployments, datastores, and observability, ensuring reliability, performance, and cost efficiency at scale. You collaborate with partner teams to standardize paved paths and data pipelines, driving resilience and high-availability strategies. This role offers impact across Netflix engineering, enabling millions of automated tests daily.

ResponsibilitiesDesign, build, and operate scalable backend services and infrastructure for the Test Automation platformOwn and evolve core infrastructure components such as service deployment and delivery and platform datastores (Aurora, MongoDB, DocumentDB)Standardize service infrastructure with observability, provisioning, capacity management, and securityOptimize critical systems (e.g., MongoDB) for performance, capacity, and cost, including sharding and data lifecycle strategiesImprove operational excellence through metrics, dashboards, alerts, and runbooksDrive resilience via load testing, failure injection testing, disaster recovery, and post-incident improvementsCollaborate with partner teams on paved paths, storage/compute offerings, and ETL/data pipelinesOperate and scale infrastructure to support 3M+ test executions daily
Key requirementsStrong infrastructure and backend engineering background across services, storage, compute, and operationsExperience with cloud providers (AWS, GCP, Azure)Knowledge of distributed systems fundamentals and tradeoffs (latency, throughput, consistency, availability)Proficiency in at least one backend language (Java, Golang, C++, Typescript)Networking fundamentals and debugging TCP/IP, HTTP, DNS issuesProactive mindset and ability to drive projects to completionStrong communication and collaboration skillsinitiativecollaborationcommunicationCloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure)Datastores: Aurora, MongoDB, DocumentDBSharding and data lifecycle management in MongoDB/DocumentDB
