Senior IT Systems Admin - Windows/VMWare

Overview In this role you will drive and operate complex Windows and VMware infrastructure while leading projects across multiple datacenters. You collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure stability, security, and scalable deployments aligned with IT strategy. You will implement automation, manage upgrades, and maintain rigorous change control to support business goals. This position offers a chance to influence large-scale infrastructure modernization in a contract setting and work closely with stakeholders to deliver reliable systems. ResponsibilitiesDesign, implement, and maintain Windows Server environments (2019, 2022, 2025) with patching, hardening, and standard complianceDevelop automation using PowerShell and scripting to improve operational efficiencyManage VMware vSphere v8+ (including VxRail, vCenter, ESXi, vSAN), VM lifecycle, capacity planning, and optimizationExecute cluster upgrades and maintenance with minimal downtimeLead end-to-end infrastructure projects (Windows/VMware upgrades, migrations) across multiple datacentersCreate project schedules, allocate resources, and provide status updates to stakeholders and leadershipCoordinate cross-functional teams and manage dependencies to ensure on-time, on-scope, and on-budget delivery Key requirements5+ years Windows Server administration5+ years VMware vSphere administrationProficiency in PowerShell scripting and automationExperience with backup and disaster recovery solutionsKnowledge of storage technologies (SAN, NAS, local storage) and monitoring for performanceExperience with formal change management practicesStrong leadership, communication, and stakeholder engagementExperience with Agile and/or ITIL methodologies; Jira usageexcellent written and verbal communicationleadership and team coordinationstrong analytical and problem-solving abilitiesWindows Server 2019/2022/2025 administrationVMware vSphere v8+ including VxRail, vCenter, ESXi, vSANPowerShell scripting and automation
