Highway Construction Foreman
Job Overview:
The Highway Construction Foreman is responsible for overseeing and managing all on-site activities for highway construction projects. This role involves supervising a team of workers, coordinating daily tasks, ensuring safety protocols are followed, and ensuring that the project is completed within the set deadlines, budget, and quality standards. The foreman acts as the primary point of contact for crew members during the construction process.
Key Responsibilities:
Crew manager/Leader
Lead, direct, and supervise a crew of construction workers and operators.
Proficient in concrete form setting and finishing.
Knowledge and ability to perform Common Laborer job duties.
Provide on-site guidance and support to ensure efficient work processes.
Assign tasks to laborers and operators based on project needs and skills.
Ensure proper training and adherence to safety standards for all crew members.
Schedule and organize daily work activities to meet deadlines and milestones.
Manage the delivery and storage of materials, equipment, and tools required for construction.
Conduct inspections and review work quality regularly.
Maintain detailed daily logs of project progress, equipment usage, and any incidents.
Report project updates and any challenges to the project manager or superintendent.
Ensure proper documentation of inspections, permits, and safety certifications.
Communicate with subcontractors, suppliers, and other stakeholders to ensure smooth workflow.
Act as a communication point between the workers and upper management.
Oversee the maintenance and operation of construction equipment and machinery.
Adapt to changing project needs and find innovative solutions to construction challenges.
Operations:
Work in conjunction with project manager and superintendent to set up the construction site, including access roads, equipment staging areas, and work zones.
Develop daily and weekly schedules based on project milestones and resource availability to delegate tasks to workers based on skills and job requirements.
Ability to perform Laborer duties, if necessary, such as using a hand tool to dig, spread and level dirt, sand, and gravel, carry construction materials, clean tools, join, wrap, and seal sections of pipes, machinery tasks, and non-machinery tasks.
Work closely with project managers to understand project scope, timelines, and deliverables.
Communicate daily with project managers to provide updates on progress, challenges, or potential delays.
Monitor construction progress to ensure work is done in accordance with project specifications and standards.
Quickly address and resolve on-site issues related to workers, equipment, or material shortages.
Ensure compliance with OSHA and company-specific safety regulations.
Conduct regular safety meetings and toolbox talks.
Ensure that all heavy machinery (e.g., graders, pavers, excavators) is operated safely and correctly.
Ensure that all work meets the project’s specifications and quality standards before completion.
Requirements:
Bilingual is a major plus.
High school diploma or equivalent; additional certification in construction or management is a plus.
Open to bringing your current crew with you(within reason).
Technical or Vocational Training (Optional): Courses or certifications in construction management, civil engineering, or a related field are beneficial.
Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in concrete construction as a Foreman
Strong knowledge of concrete construction techniques, materials, and machinery.
Proven experience in supervising and managing construction crews.
Solid understanding of OSHA regulations and safety protocols.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, plans, and specifications. (TXDot is a plus)
Excellent communication and leadership skills.
Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.

Attention to detail and quality control.
Knowledge of construction safety standards.
Ability to forecast the future for projects 1 to 30 days out, in conjunction with the Project Manager and Superintendent.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
Ability to lift heavy objects and operate machinery as needed.
Standing, walking, and moving on uneven terrain for extended periods.
Certifications:
Valid Driver’s License: A current driver’s license with a clean driving record
Construction Safety Certifications (Optional)
Heavy Equipment Operator Certifications (Optional):
OSHA 30-Hour Construction Safety and Health (Optional)
Schedule:
Monday – Friday. Typically work from 6:00am to 5:00pm (depending on project).
Must be open to working night hours and weekends if needed per project requirements.
*Employee Housing available upon request if living outside of Kerr County limits.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: From $24.00 per hour
Expected hours: 36 – 52 per week
