Position SummaryThe Director of Infrastructure & IT Operations is responsible for leading the strategy, design, delivery, and ongoing reliability of enterprise IT infrastructure that supports mission-critical utility and field-based operations. This role ensures high availability, security, scalability, and performance across networks, cloud platforms, data centers, and end-user services. Operating at the intersection of technology leadership, operational excellence, and regulatory compliance, the Director partners closely with business, operations, and technology leaders to enable safe, reliable, and resilient infrastructure services. While accountable for infrastructure outcomes, this role achieves success through influence, standards, and cross-functional collaboration rather than direct ownership of all execution layers.ResponsibilitiesDefine and execute enterprise infrastructure and IT operations strategy aligned with business objectives, regulatory requirements, and reliability standardsLead and develop teams spanning network engineering, systems and cloud infrastructure, IT operations, and service desk functionsEstablish standards for availability, resilience, scalability, and performance across all infrastructure platformsOversee enterprise network architecture including LAN, WAN, firewalls, VPNs, and network segmentationEnsure secure and reliable connectivity for corporate offices, field locations, substations, and operational sitesManage hybrid infrastructure environments across on-premises data centers and public cloud platforms (e.g., Azure, AWS, GCP)Drive cloud modernization initiatives, including infrastructure automation, provisioning, and configuration managementEnsure infrastructure cost optimization, performance, and scalabilityLead IT service management processes including incident, problem, and change managementMaintain high service availability and uptime targets (e.g., 99.9%+)Oversee end-user computing, device management, and support servicesPartner with cybersecurity teams to embed security controls, identity and access management, and monitoring into infrastructure designEnsure compliance with regulatory, audit, and industry standardsImplement enterprise monitoring and observability capabilities to track system performance, availability, and incident responseDrive continuous improvement in infrastructure reliability and operational efficiencyCollaborate with field operations, engineering and grid systems teams (e.g., SCADA, operational technology), application teams, and data teamsSupport enterprise digital transformation initiatives through scalable and resilient infrastructure enablementRequirementsBachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred10+ years of experience in IT infrastructure and operations5+ years of progressive leadership experience managing technical teamsProven experience operating large-scale, mission-critical infrastructure environmentsExperience in utility, energy, or other critical infrastructure environments is preferredStrong domain expertise in network architecture, data center operations, cloud platforms, and IT operationsWorking knowledge of IT service management frameworks (e.g., ITIL)Experience with infrastructure automation, monitoring, and observability toolsAbility to lead through influence and collaborate effectively with executive, operational, and technical stakeholdersStrong operational judgment, risk management, and communication skillsKnowledge of utility-specific systems such as SCADA, OMS, and GIS We are an Equal Opportunity Employer.
