This individual will play a pivotal role in shaping complex, high‑visibility projects across healthcare, sports and entertainment, higher education, and other transformative market sectors. The General Superintendent will serve as the on‑site leader responsible for driving safety, quality, and schedule excellence while coordinating the efforts of multiple trade partners to deliver exceptional results for our clients.This role demands a seasoned builder with deep field expertise and a proactive leadership style. With projects often exceeding $50 million in value, this leader will be entrusted with developing detailed project schedules, managing site logistics, resolving field challenges, and maintaining strong communication with project teams and owners. The position calls for advanced knowledge of construction principles, codes, and best practices, along with the ability to navigate and verify complex architectural, mechanical, and electrical documents — all essential to delivering the caliber of work Barton Malow is known for.POSITION:Promote and enforce a safe work environment and safe work practices for all trade contractors and the overall construction site. Supervise and coordinate various contractors to ensure their contracts are fulfilled on schedule, in accordance with plans and specifications, while ensuring a quality product for the owner.Responsibilities: Enforce corporate safety policies on jobsite, providing key responsibility for safety compliance in the fieldImplement proactive pre-task safety planning for all work activitiesSupervise, coordinate and sequence contractors’ workMonitor performance and coordinate work to maintain productivity of trades, ensuring adequate manpower for work in placeDevelop and maintain complete and detailed project schedule and manage work in accordance with the scheduleCoordinate and track material deliveriesDevelop site logistics plans for entire project to maximize productivityDemonstrate fiscal responsibility by enforcing contract requirements and limiting field changesAssist with development of work scopes and front end documentsCommunicate effectively with the Project ManagerEffective timely resolution of conflicts and disputes to minimize delays and claimsAdvanced knowledge in construction principles, practices and methods, performance standards, environmental regulations, workplace safety.Advanced knowledge of regulations, codes, standards, and best practices.Advanced ability to navigate, read and verify project drawings, specifications and submittals, with an understanding of architectural, mechanical, and electrical drawings.Strong negotiation skills to resolve field issues with subcontractor, design team and/or ownerStrong ability to effectively communicate with all members of the team.
