Position Type:Teaching - High School/Special Ed ResourceDate Posted:4/30/2026Location:William Tennent High SchoolClosing Date:05/10/2026Summer Employment OpportunityESY Lead TeacherExtended School Year ProgramJune 29th through July 30st, 2026.Plus one (1) prep day session, TBD, prior to 6/29, AND one (1) cleanup session at the conclusion of ESY.Mondays through Thursdays, 8:45 to 1:15.$50.00/hourWilliam Tennent High SchoolJob Summary: The Extended School Year (ESY) Lead Teacher Mentor is a professional staff employee appointed to assist in the leadership and coordination of the CSD ESY program.Qualifications:Candidate must be a graduate of an accredited college or university and hold a proper Pennsylvania certification for the position.Principal certification or Special Education Supervisor certification strongly preferred, but not requiredDemonstrate a high level of knowledge in the area of special educationPossess a positive attitude toward the teaching profession, service to the district, and importance and purpose of special education programs.Proficiency in use of technology for individual or group demonstration or communication.Must be able to flex and vary hours to accommodate needs of students, parents, other teachers, and the needs of the programPossesses effective interpersonal skills with the ability to interface diplomatically with teachers, administrators, parents, students, and outside organizations.Exhibits excellent classroom management skills.Demonstrates effective communication skills to provide accurate information to others and to obtain, give, and follow directions.Demonstrates ability to provide good judgment, planning, and human relations skills, as well as be required to work under periods of stress due to the level of the position responsibility.Hold CPI certification or be willing to obtain CPI certificationStrong knowledge of IEP development and implementationDuties & Responsibilities:Serves as a liaison between Supervisor of Special Education and appointed ESY teachers, related service providers and paraprofessionals.Provides instruction, guidance and support as a mentor to special education teachers regarding ESY programs, resources, and implementation of IEP services.Serves as a point of contact for providing resources and information to paraprofessional staff during the ESY program.Provides differentiated instruction to ESY staff in order to support the diverse needs of special education students.Models and demonstrates evidence-based teaching strategies to enhance student engagement and learning outcomes for students receiving special education services.Manages and communicates effectively any concerns to the Supervisor of Special Education.Conducts regular check-ins with teachers to discuss students progress and address any challenges.Is key contact person for issues and needed communication with transportationOversees attendance procedure and data collection.Oversees program communication that may be needed, overall, to all families served during ESY.Fosters a collaborative and inclusive environment amongst all ESY staff.Ensures that high standards are maintained in the absence of an administrator, fostering a smooth and efficient learning environment.Coordinates staffing absences to ensure absences are covered for both teaching and support staff.Address student behavioral challenges in accordance with legal, district, and evidence-based procedures.Assists Supervisor of Special Education in daily operational duties to include, but not limited to: ensuring employees are logging time and verifying accuracy of hours, organizes and prepares daily bus schedules and parent pickups, assists with communication in identifying school supports as necessary with inter-departments such as the facilities, IT, and transportation departments.
