Lead Medical/Dental Referral Navigator

Our Mission is to promote health and wellness through excellent, compassionate care for all.Reporting to the Manager of Specialty Referrals, the Lead Medical/Dental Referral Navigator processes, tracks, and closes medical and dental referrals for Marin Community Clinics patients. This position acts as the lead support for all Referral Navigator and the Manager of Specialty Referrals. This position will work to problem-solve, troubleshoot and resolve referral Navigator issues, and will escalate them to the Referral Manager when necessary. The Lead Medical/Dental Referral Navigator must speak Spanish. The Lead Medical/Dental Referral Navigator is responsible to coordinate appointments for urgent cases, and advocates on behalf of patients when needed. The Lead Medical/Dental Referral Navigator seeks guidance from nurses and providers as needed for clinical resources. This position provides extensive support to providers and patients and another Referral Navigator.Responsibilities Under the supervision of the Manager of Specialty Referrals, the Lead Medical/Dental Referral Navigator has the ability to delegate as necessary to referral coordinators. Assis t referral navigators with referrals once they have exhausted all resources; they will provide support. Assist with workflows when necessary. Update resources regularly. Maintain relationships with specialists and other outside partners. Lead Medical/Dental Referral Navigator will work with the Referral Manager regarding employment (hiring/ training/counseling/terminating) and will assist with staff performance evaluations. Attend regularly scheduled RC and All Staff meetings as scheduled by the Referral Department Manager. Assist Manager with referral reports when necessary. Proces s medical and dental and, track and close referrals. Coordinate Oral Surgery appointments for our oral surgery program. Process referrals and schedule appointments with specialists within a timely manner. Inform Providers if there are any unusual delays. Send complete referral packets to various specialists’ offices. Respond to emails sent to the Dental Referrals and Referral Coordinators by the clinics’ staff and our side facilities. Close referrals previously processed by requesting medical records from the offices and facilities where the patients where served. Send specialty reminders and updates to our dentist and medical providers. Other duties as assigned by Manager. QualificationsEducation and Experience: High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) required. Epic experience Experience in a medical facility setting within at least two years of experience preferred. Knowledge of medical and dental terminology preferred. Required Skills And Abilities Position requires Spanish/English bilingual skills and ability to work some Saturdays when required. Works closely with the Manager of Specialty referrals and provides support is needed. Must be sensitive to multi-culture, multi-ethic issues. Must be reliable. Must be able to work in team environment setting. Physical Requirements And Working Conditions Prolonged period of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Use of mouse, keyboard, and headset.
