Manufacturing Team Coordinator

Position Description Title: Manufacturing Team Coordinator Department: Operations Immediate Supervisor: Operations Manager Status: Exempt Position Purpose: Provide oversite and support to the manufacturing employees to ensure safety, quality and production goals are achieved. Principle Accountabilities Advocate for the safety and health of employees. Prioritize employee skills, work hours, materials, and work flow to achieve production and quality objectives. Actively engage and assist employees so that safety, quality, and production objectives are achieved. Appraise hourly employee performance recommending promotions, transfers, and work assignments. Responsible to coach and develop employees adhering to plant policies, standard operating procedures, and work instructions. Oversee departmental safety and housekeeping practices as well as respond to employee injuries by administering or seeking assistance and investigating incident causes and mitigation. Participate in the interview/selection process to fill vacant hourly positions. Ensure accountability by Issuing warnings and other approved disciplinary measures when necessary. Encourage employee communication and endorse open door policy. Initiate efforts aimed at affecting cost reductions, work simplification, and/or improvements in methods or equipment. Provide shift summary reports to Department Managers and/or Human Resources including staffing discrepancies, needs, or concerns. Working a rotating and/or swing shift supporting business operation including nights and weekend hours. Hands on machine operating assistance as business needs dictate. Other duties as assigned. Essential Skills and Experience B.S. in Business Operations, Engineering or other (applicable) technical discipline and 3 to 5 years of manufacturing experience preferably in a supervisory or managerial role or 5 to 10 years of manufacturing experience preferably in a supervisory or managerial role. Proficient use of Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint) Troubleshooting capabilities. Familiar with methodologies and tools to facilitate problem solving and process improvements. Basic familiarity with 6 Sigma, lean or other similar experience preferred. Project management skills preferred. Knowledge of ISO requirements in manufacturing preferred. Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) which includes active listening. Requires walking and standing to traverse the manufacturing site while performing duties. Occasional bending, stooping and climbing while observing processes. Will occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Combination of office and manufacturing work environment. While performing the duties of this job, exposed to moving mechanical parts. May be exposed to wet or humid conditions. May be exposed to outdoor weather conditions. Is regularly exposed to high noise environments. May be exposed to extremely dusty environments and to chemicals used in the processes.
