- Deadline to Apply May 29th, 2026 -Small Group Instructor (SGI)Year-round (School year, Summer, Fall, Winter, and Spring breaks)Full-time, Hourly, non-exemptReports to: Assistant PrincipalSummary Description: The Small Group Instructor (SGI) is responsible for working with teachers and students to help facilitate learning in the classroom. The ideal candidate will work collaboratively with peers, teachers, and students, have a deep commitment to student achievement, hold students and self to high expectations, and uphold the school culture at all times. This assignment is designed to ensure all scholars have access to rigorous, research based learning opportunities at their instructional level.Duties And Responsibilities Will IncludeStudent Instruction and InterventionWith guidance from and in collaboration with the classroom teacher, prepares for and administers instructional assessments in whole group, small group, and individual settings.With guidance from and in collaboration with the classroom teacher, instructs small groups of scholars based on instructional data and individual learning plans collected through the assessment process.With guidance from and in collaboration with the classroom teacher, analyze ongoing assessment data to form flexible, small groups for instruction based on student need including directed teaching, diagnosing and planning, and intervention/enrichment.With guidance from and in collaboration with the classroom teacher, participates as an active member of professional learning communities, data discussions, instructional grouping, and lesson planning.With guidance from and in collaboration with the classroom teacher, lead small group intervention for targeted student groups.Participates in ongoing and regularly occurring professional learning and development opportunities.Meet with the classroom teacher regularly to discuss student progress and plan next steps for instruction and interventionServe as the primary instructors during Summer Academy and IntercessionsAct as a substitute teacher, as needed.Teaches Lit Block, as assigned by the assistant principal/intervention coordinator. Student SupervisionPerform supervisory duties during recess, lunch, and other times as directedProvides assistance in related lunch administration activities such as escorting students to lunch and to the play area, administering lunches, assists in the cleaning of lunch areasStudent SupportIn support of the special education department and teachers, assists scholars having an IEPProfessional ExpectationsParticipates in all staff meetings, professional learning, and planning sessions as assignedIn collaboration with the classroom teacher, assist in the preparation of lessons and student exemplars as assignedParticipate fully in the coaching cycle (being observed, receiving real-time and post-lesson feedback, collaborating with APs and/or coach on action steps, implementing action steps, etc.)Support the general day-to-day activities of the school sitePerform other duties as assigned by the Principal, Assistant PrincipalsRequired Education, Experience, And AbilitiesHigh School Diploma and at least 90 semester units earned (135 quarter units) Bachelor’s Degree preferredSuccessful passage of the CBEST or completion of another Basic Skills Requirement as required by the Commission on Teacher Credentialing Possession of a Substitute Teaching Permit Ability to follow directives and carry out lessons as prescribedA desire to improve professionally, open to receiving coaching and feedbackFlexible to changing work environment with a positive attitudeAbility to read and write simple correspondenceAbility to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentagesSalaryGrow Academy offers competitive compensation based on background and experience
