Job Description Position: Neurosurgeon – General Location: Dothan, Alabama Schedule: Full-Time | PermanentOrganization Overview This opportunity is with a respected, community-based academic health system serving Southeast Alabama, Southwest Georgia, and the Florida Panhandle. Position Summary The facility is seeking a Board-Certified or Board-Eligible General Neurosurgeon to join its growing neurosurgery program in Dothan, Alabama. This role includes a mix of inpatient and outpatient responsibilities, with a focus on evaluating and surgically treating a wide range of neurological conditions. The neurosurgeon will work closely with neurologists, intensivists, trauma teams, and other specialists in a collaborative, high-acuity environment. The group is open to 2026 Neurosurgery residents/fellows as well as experienced neurosurgeons. Essential Position Responsibilities Evaluate, diagnose, and surgically treat disorders of the brain, spine, and nervous system Perform a range of neurosurgical procedures including cranial and spinal surgeries Manage traumatic brain injuries, spinal disorders, tumors, and degenerative conditions Provide inpatient consultations, surgical care, and post-operative management Participate in on-call coverage for neurosurgical emergencies Collaborate with neurology, trauma, ICU, and rehabilitation teams for comprehensive care Review and interpret diagnostic imaging including CT, MRI, and other studies Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic health record (EHR) Engage in quality improvement initiatives and clinical best practices QualificationsEducation M.D. or D.O. from an accredited medical school Completion of a Neurosurgery residency Licensure & Certification Board Certified or Board Eligible in Neurosurgery Eligible for or holding an active Alabama medical license Current BLS/ACLS required Experience Open to 2026 graduating residents/fellows Experienced neurosurgeons also encouraged to apply Compensation and Environment Competitive compensation package with productivity incentives Comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, vision, and retirement plans Malpractice coverage CME allowance + paid CME time Paid time off and reimbursement for licenses and professional fees Access to advanced surgical technology and modern operating suites Collaborative, multidisciplinary clinical environment Thank you for your time, and I look forward to connecting soon!
