Parks Superintendent

Description Seeking at least 8 applicants to fill summer seasonal positions.NATURE OF WORKPerforms seasonal park maintenance duties including equipment operation tasks; does related work as required, unsupervised. Ability to adjust schedule when watering is not required.QualificationsAbility to lift 50 lbs. Ability to develop a working knowledge of the current methods, materials, practices and tools used in the exterior maintenance of parks and recreation facilities. Ability to learn applicable safety practices. Ability to exercise good judgment and function within broad guidelines. Ability to present ideas and recommendations in a clear, concise manner. Ability to work effectively with other City personnel and the public. Ability to operate department spray truck for watering.SUPERVISIONDuties And ResponsibilitiesPerforms landscaping maintenance including but not limited to: mowing, trimming, cleaning, clearing, planting, watering, sweeping and painting.Attends all assigned meetings and informs supervisors of suggestions and comments that could better the parks and recreation operation;Carries out any assigned responsibilities relating to the City of Westerville Parks and Recreation Department as directed by supervisors;Carries out additional responsibilities as assigned;Cleans and maintains equipment and reports problems to supervisor;This position is required to work in a variety of adverse weather conditions.Waters annual flowers when conditions require.Performs other related duties as assigned.Essential Functions Of WorkMINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Valid Ohio Driver's LicenseCity pays portion of OPERS Retirement Contribution.
