Test Technician
Job DescriptionJohnson Service Group is seeking a Lab Test Technician with strong electronics, testing, and troubleshooting experience. The ideal candidate will have solid attention to detail and the ability to interpret engineering drawings and schematics. Cross sectioning experience is a plus.This is a contingent to hire opportunity onsite in Lisle, IL.Responsibilities• Perform precision cross sectioning of interconnects and components, including encapsulation, cutting, grinding, and polishing• Conduct visual inspections at multiple magnifications using stereo and optical microscopes, including image capture and picture stitching• Execute dimensional measurements and verify construction features against engineering drawings and specifications• Analyze internal structures, materials interfaces, and defects to support construction and reliability assessments• Accurately document test methods, observations, and results; communicate findings clearly to engineers and project stakeholders• Apply critical thinking to interpret results, identify anomalies, and recommend follow-up actions when needed• Collaborate closely with engineering and project management teams to support on time delivery of project milestonesSkills and Abilities• Demonstrated experience with cross sectioning techniques and construction analysis• Proficient in reading and executing test plans and engineering drawings• Strong attention to detail with the ability to produce consistent, high quality cross sections• Analytical mindset with the ability to evaluate results, test assumptions, and make method adjustments as needed• Clear verbal and written communication skills for reporting technical findings• Strong interpersonal skills; ability to work effectively in a team based, multi-functional environment• Flexible and adaptable in a fast-paced lab setting where priorities and schedules may changeRequirements• High School Diploma or equivalent and 3+ years' work experience in a related field; OR an Associate's degree and 1+ years' work experience in a related field required• Working knowledge of interconnect systems, twisted pair, coaxial conductors, etc.PreferredExperience performing sample preparation and cross-sectioning, including encapsulation, cutting, grinding, and polishingProficiency with dimensional and inspection measurement tools, such as calipers, drop gauges, crimp micrometers, and microscope-based measurement softwareExperience using laboratory and inspection equipment, including optical and stereo microscopesTroubleshooting skills of interconnect systems to aid in root cause failure analysisExperience using test plan development, data capture, or test management tools is a plusPay rate: $28/hour-$35/hour#D800
