Project Architect

SCB is seeking talented Project Architects to join our Chicago office. You will have the opportunity to work with a team of talented professionals on all aspects of project design and development under the direct supervision of a Project Manager and/or Principal. You will also closely collaborate with the project team, including consultants, to prepare design studies, graphic representations, technical drawings, studies, and other materials related to architectural design.Your QualificationsAccredited professional degree in architecture10+ years post-graduate, full-time working experience in an architectural firmLicensed Architect in the U.S.A strong design sensibility and attention to detailExcellent communication and presentation skillsAbility to lead a project including consultants and internal staffWorking knowledge of, and demonstrated experience with, local zoning ordinances and building codesTechnical knowledge of building systems, material assemblies, and engineering conceptsCapable of performing all construction phase activities including review of shop drawings, responding to Contractor questions (RFI’s), conducting site visits and participating in BIM coordination meetingsProficient in Revit, Bluebeam, Newforma and Excel; familiarity with software programs such as Enscape, SketchUp, Rhino, Affinity and Adobe Creative SuiteMulti-family Residential, Hospitality, Campus Environments, Commercial Office/Lab or Aviation project experience preferredThe RoleImplement project design philosophy and work toward the successful execution of the project through design and construction phasesDevelop design and technical drawings, visualizations, and studies in collaboration with project leadersOrganize the work efforts of SCB’s project team on a day-to-day basis and function as the primary facilitator of communication between the in-house team and external consultantsManage time and organize tasks effectively to meet project deadlines, including oversight of junior team membersCollaborate with external stakeholders, including direct coordination with design consultants, contractors, clients and authorities having jurisdictionLead team meetings and client presentations, working closely with multidisciplinary teamsMentor and train junior staff in a constructive and thoughtful mannerResearch and promote opportunities for new or innovative system applications; proactively look for and implement processes to improve work product and efficiency.Engage with the project and studio team with a positive, team-first attitude and willingness to learn and contribute to the project and firm’s successWhat We OfferSalary: $95,000 - $145,000 depending on experienceBenefits: We support our teams with competitive, comprehensive benefits including, but not limited to, medical, dental, disability, paid holidays and time off, and 401K retirement matching.
