The Ecology Learning Center (ELC) is a small rural public charter high school serving 130 students in grades 9–12. Its mission is to immerse students in Maine’s ecological and cultural landscapes while fostering authentic, hands-on learning through mentorship and craft. ELC develops compassionate, resilient leaders prepared to meet today’s challenges. Located in Unity—home to the Maine Organic Farmers and Gardeners Association (MOFGA)—the school is surrounded by farms, orchards, and forests, 30 minutes from Belfast and Waterville (Colby College) and 90 minutes from Acadia National Park.Further help on this page can be found by clicking here .Member Duties : The AmeriCorps member in this role will advance student wellness by managing first aid resources, supporting nutrition education for breakfast and lunch – especially during outdoor learning – and contributing to the school’s farm-to-cafeteria garden program.
