Cottage Support Staff - Team Lead 3rd Shift

SHELTER PROGRAMPosition Title: Cottage Support Staff Team Lead (3rd Shift)Classification: Non-ExemptReports To: Team SupervisorSupervises: N/AEssential Staff? Yes. Essential staff must remain on duty to supervise youth and ensure safe program operations in the event of call-offs, late arrivals, crises or inclement weather.Position SummaryThe Cottage Support Staff Team Lead assists with planning and implementing recreational activities on a daily basis and providing adaptation services to assist in the development of social and interpersonal skills that contribute to the youth’s ability to live independently and responsibly in the community.Primary ResponsibilitiesAssists with training Cottage Support Staff.Plans and implements activities on a daily basis under the guidance of the Team Supervisor.Ensures that youth receive a full range of program services in an integrative and comprehensive manner.Completes incident and shift reports.Provides assistance to Case Managers and other team members in the absence of the Team Supervisor.Demonstrates an understanding of the developmental milestones of youth.Assess staff competencies using the results from performance improvement activities in the absence of the Team Supervisor.Ensures cottage compliance with regulations and other program requirements.Completes daily staffing assignmentsResponds to crisis and emergency situations.Reviews medication logs and provides appropriate follow up.Conducts pre-shift meetings in the absence of the Team Supervisor.Plans and implements a daily schedule of activities.Assists with completing all incident reports, HCSIS and ChildLine reporting.May assists with referrals and admissions in the absence of Case Manager.Plans for cottage budget, trips, activities and oversees all cottage expenses.Actively supervises youth, as needed in ratio.Other duties as assigned.Required CompetenciesPrevious supervisory experience; ANDA Bachelor’s degree in the behavioral sciences, human services or social services fields; ANDA minimum of one year of experience in child welfare, youth work, child care or related field;ORAn Associate’s degree in the behavioral sciences, human services or social services fields; ANDA minimum of three years of experience in child welfare, youth work, child care or related field.Performs primarily light work in a climate-controlled residential setting with frequent outdoor supervision.Must be able to perform the physical requirements of the position:Occasionally perform light work by lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling up to 20 pounds without assistance.Move about on foot to complete tasks and move from one location to another.Stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, climb stairs, and stand regularly.Have close visual acuity to prepare and analyze figures and data, to view a computer monitor and operate typical office equipment.Have manual dexterity to grasp and manipulate objects.Be subjected to occasional noise that would cause one to shout in order to be heard above ambient noise level.Be able to respond to a crisis situation and participate in physical interventions and tolerate prolonged periods of physical exertion which may include exhaustion.Demonstrates a commitment to achieving a standard of excellence with procedures and outcomes.Communicates effectively by balancing listening and talking, speaking and writing clearly and influencing others.Demonstrates excellent teamwork skills by being helpful, accountable, respectful and approachable.
