Position SummaryThe Safety Specialist plays a critical role in supporting safe, compliant, and efficient field operations within our telecommunications and construction teams. This position is responsible for developing, implementing, and enforcing safety programs; conducting site audits; providing training; and ensuring full alignment with OSHA standards and company safety policies. The Safety Specialist works closely with field crews, supervisors, and leadership to promote a proactive safety culture across all job sites.Key ResponsibilitiesSafety Program ImplementationDevelop, implement, and enforce company safety programs and proceduresEnsure compliance with OSHA regulations and internal policiesSupport safety initiatives across telecom, construction, aerial, and underground operationsField Support & Job Site AuditsConduct regular job site inspections to identify hazards and ensure complianceDocument findings, communicate corrective actions, and monitor follow-upReport unsafe conditions or behaviors and recommend effective solutionsTraining & EducationDeliver safety training to field crews and supervisors (e.g., PPE use, hazard communication, equipment safety)Reinforce safety expectations and support the development of a safety-first cultureAssist with onboarding safety training for new team membersIncident Response & InvestigationLead or support investigations of incidents, accidents, and near-missesIdentify root causes and implement corrective and preventative actionsMaintain accurate records and incident reports for leadership reviewCompliance & DocumentationMaintain documentation of safety meetings, audits, corrective actions, and training recordsSupport leadership with safety reporting and metricsAssist supervisors and managers with safety accountability and best practicesOperational SupportTravel regularly to multiple job sites as neededRespond to safety-related needs, including early mornings, occasional weekends, and emergency situationsWork effectively in active construction and field environmentsQualificationsExperience in safety, risk management, telecom, construction, or a similar field preferredKnowledge of OSHA standards, including:Fall protectionElectrical safetyTrenching and excavationStrong communication skills and the ability to influence safe behaviorsAbility to conduct inspections, audits, and investigations with professionalismStrong documentation and reporting skillsValid driver's license and reliable transportation requiredAbility to pass a background check and drug screening (required)Preferred BackgroundExperience supporting safety in telecom, fiber, utility, or construction environmentsExperience conducting job site audits and delivering safety trainingDemonstrated ability to handle safety violations with fairness and consistencySkills & CompetenciesStrong leadership and ability to promote a safety-first cultureAttention to detail and strong problem solving abilitiesAbility to work independently and collaborate with field teamsProfessional communication and documentation capabilitiesReliability, accountability, and a proactive approach to safetyWork EnvironmentField-based position with regular travel to job sitesExposure to active construction environmentsMust be comfortable working outdoors and around heavy equipment
