Registered Nurse General Information:
Ensure patient health care records are maintained and accurate
Administer medications to patients based on conditions and symptoms
Order clinical and medical diagnostic exams and tests
Take patient vital signs
Record patient medical history
Evaluate and manage patient care plans
Work with other nurses and medical professionals to provide comprehensive care to patients
Counsel patients and family members on disease prevention and health maintenance
Take vital signs and start IVs for patients
Interpret diagnostic exams and tests to identify patient conditions
Supervise the work of licensed practical nurses, nursing aides and assistants
Guarantee patient confidentiality is respected and kept intact
Maintain a safe, hygienic working environment
Ensure all medical equipment used is up-to-date and functions properly
Document all actions and any irregularities so that other nursing teams are aware of the current state of the patient
Provide emotional and psychological support to patients
Abilities
Effective communication abilities: Nurses must be able to communicate well with patients, family members, colleagues, and the medical team. Strong written and oral communication skills, as well as nonverbal communication skills.
Organizational abilities: Nurses are in charge of maintaining and organizing patient records. Must adhere to policies and procedures to ensure patient safety.
