Controller

Position Overview: We are seeking a self-motivated, detail-oriented individual to serve as our Controller. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of financial management and accounting functions, requiring strong communication skills, both verbal and written. The ideal candidate will excel in interacting with individuals at all levels, both internally and externally, and will take ownership of financial issues, demonstrating proactive problem-solving abilities. Whether working independently or as part of a team, the Controller will manage a wide range of financial tasks, demanding strong organizational and time management skills. Responsibilities: Perform and manage the day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, and general ledger maintenance. Collaborate with Accounts Receivable Associate to ensure efficient management of accounts receivable processes and timely collection of outstanding balances. Prepare and analyze financial statements, budgets, and forecasts to provide management with accurate and timely financial information. Ensure compliance with all accounting principles, regulatory requirements, and tax laws. Make payroll tax deposits and file quarterly and annual payroll tax returns. Develop and implement internal controls and procedures to safeguard company assets and mitigate financial risk. Handle cash management, banking relationships, and reconciliations. Coordinate with external auditors, tax advisors, and other financial professionals as needed. Manage insurance policies for the company, including general liability, auto, and other relevant coverages. Oversee claims management processes and work with insurance providers to resolve issues efficiently. Assist with strategic financial planning and decision-making by providing insights and recommendations based on financial analysis. Stay current on accounting standards and industry best practices to ensure compliance and optimize financial performance. Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or CMA certification is a plus. 5+ years of experience in accounting or finance, with proficiency in all areas of financial management. Strong knowledge of GAAP principles, financial analysis techniques, and accounting software; experience with Sage Contractor accounting software preferred. Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Effective communication skills with the ability to interact with colleagues at all levels of the organization. Proven track record of integrity, accuracy, and attention to detail. Experience in the HVAC or construction industry is a plus. Benefits: Competitive compensation package.
