Data Architect - Microsoft Fabric
DescriptionRole Summary:Company is undergoing a critical transformation of its data and analytics ecosystem, anchored by the migration of its Point of Sale (POS) platform from Navex/DST to AutoLeap and the adoption of Microsoft Fabric as the enterprise data platform.We are seeking a hands-on Microsoft Fabric Architect / Subject Matter Expert (SME) to lead the end-to-end design, build, and rollout of our next-generation data platform. This role will be responsible for ensuring a scalable, high-quality, and business-critical data foundation supporting franchise operations, financial reporting, and external integrations.This is a high-impact, high-visibility role requiring both deep technical expertise and strong leadership across business and engineering stakeholders.Key ResponsibilitiesData Platform Architecture & StrategyDesign and own the end-to-end Microsoft Fabric architecture, including:Data ingestion from AutoLeap (Postgres, APIs)Lakehouse design using medallion architecture (Bronze / Silver / Gold)Semantic modeling and Power BI integration strategyDefine scalable patterns for:Incremental processing and change data capture (CDC)Global identifiers (customer, vehicle, store)Data governance, lineage, and auditingEstablish platform standards and best practices to support long-term scalabilityData Engineering & IntegrationLead implementation of:Fabric PipelinesNotebooks (Spark/PySpark)Data transformations and conformance layersOversee consolidation of legacy SQL Server data sources (ICDB, DME) into a single unified lakehouseEnsure readiness for downstream consumers including:Power BI reportingSAP, CRM, and operational systemsExternal partners and data providersBusiness Requirements & Data ModelingPartner with stakeholders across business and technology teams to:Gather and structure data requirementsDefine canonical POS data modelsTranslate business needs into scalable data productsValidate and map AutoLeap source data to target data structuresData Quality, Testing & ValidationDefine and execute robust validation frameworks including:Data reconciliation against legacy systemsCompleteness and accuracy checksPerformance and SLA validationDevelop formal testing strategies and acceptance criteriaLeadership & EnablementAct as a technical leader and advisor across the organizationMentor and upskill internal teams through:Pair programming and solution design sessionsDocumentation of frameworks and patternsDrive alignment across engineering, analytics, and business stakeholdersRequired QualificationsCore Experience7–12+ years in data engineering, architecture, or platform rolesDeep, hands-on expertise with Microsoft Fabric, including:LakehousesFabric PipelinesSpark / PySpark notebooksSemantic models and Power BIStrong experience with modern data architectures:Lakehouse patternsMedallion architectureDistributed data processingTechnical ExpertiseExperience with:API-based ingestion and relational data sources (Postgres preferred)Designing enterprise data models and data productsHybrid data ecosystems (analytics + operational integrations)Familiarity with:Azure data ecosystemData governance and lineage toolsPerformance optimization at scaleDomain & Delivery ExperienceExperience working with transaction-heavy systems (POS, retail, franchise, automotive, or similar)Proven success leading system-of-record data migrations or platform transformationsExperience supporting both:Internal analytics/reporting use casesExternal data distribution (partners, vendors)Leadership & Soft SkillsAbility to operate independently in ambiguous, fast-paced environmentsStrong communication skills across:Technical teamsBusiness stakeholdersComfortable balancing roles as:ArchitectHands-on builderMentor / educatorPreferred QualificationsPrior experience implementing Microsoft Fabric in production environmentsExperience modernizing from legacy SQL Server data platformsFamiliarity with franchise or multi-location business modelsSkillsmicrosoft, lakehouse, Data, Data architecture, apiTop Skills Detailsmicrosoft,lakehouse,DataAdditional Skills & QualificationsMicrosoft FabricExperience LevelIntermediate LevelJob Type & LocationThis is a Contract position based out of Palm Beach Gardens, FL.Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $55.00 - $75.00/hr.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job
