Summary
In this contingent resource assignment, you may: Consult on or participate in moderately complex initiatives and deliverables within Software Engineering and contribute to large-scale planning related to Software Engineering deliverables. Review and analyze moderately complex Software Engineering challenges that require an in-depth evaluation of variable factors. Contribute to the resolution of moderately complex issues and consult with others to meet Software Engineering deliverables while leveraging solid understanding of the function, policies, procedures, and compliance requirements. Collaborate with client personnel in Software Engineering.
We are seeking a skilled Hadoop / HPE MapR Engineer to design, build, operate, and optimize large-scale distributed data platforms. This role focuses on supporting and enhancing HPE MapR-based Hadoop ecosystems, ensuring high availability, performance, security, and reliability for enterprise data workloads. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with MapR services, distributed systems, Linux, and big data processing frameworks, and is comfortable operating in a complex, production-grade environment.
Key Responsibilities
Design, implement, and maintain large-scale distributed data platforms using HPE MapR and Hadoop technologies
Support and enhance MapR-based ecosystems to ensure system performance, scalability, and reliability
Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve performance and stability issues in production environments
Ensure high availability and operational efficiency of enterprise-scale clusters
Consult on complex software engineering initiatives with broad organizational impact
Analyze and resolve large-scale, multi-faceted technical challenges requiring evaluation of multiple factors, including ambiguous or unprecedented scenarios
Collaborate strategically with client stakeholders and internal teams to deliver scalable and compliant solutions
Adhere to organizational policies, procedures, and compliance requirements while meeting deliverables
Required Qualifications
Applicants must be authorized to work for ANY employer in the U.S. This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship.
3-5 years of experience in software engineering, big data, data platform, or infrastructure engineering, or equivalent experience
Strong hands-on experience with Hadoop distributions, specifically HPE MapR
Deep understanding of distributed systems, data storage, and cluster computing concepts
Proficiency in Linux/Unix system administration
Experience with at least one programming or scripting language: Python, Java, Scala, or Bash
Working knowledge of Apache Spark and batch/stream processing paradigms
Proven experience supporting production, enterprise-scale clusters with high availability requirements
Experience troubleshooting complex issues in large-scale environments
Familiarity with monitoring tools such as Grafana, Prometheus, Splunk, or similar
