Quantum Lab Technician

About The RoleMesa Quantum is building the manufacturing backbone of the quantum sensing economy. We developchip-scale quantum sensors that enable resilient Position, Navigation, and Timing (PNT) in GPS-deniedenvironments-critical for national security, infrastructure, and next-generation autonomous systems. We are establishing a pre-shipment testing and qualification site in Albuquerque, NM to support aportfolio of quantum photonic products. The Photonics Test Technician will execute structured, batch-based testing in accordance with defined Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure devicesmeet established qualification criteria prior to shipment. This role supports testing across a range of quantum products — from discrete photonic components tointegrated subsystems — requiring adaptability and careful attention to product-specific procedures. As the program scales, the technician will contribute to maintaining test consistency, identifyingimprovement opportunities, and supporting controlled refinement of workflows. This is a hands-on technical role within a disciplined but evolving qualification environment.Key ResponsibilitiesExecute batch-based device testing strictly according to established SOPsPerform optical alignment, system setup, and hardware configuration required for standardizedqualification testingSupport testing across multiple product types, adapting to product-specific procedures whilemaintaining process disciplineOperate designated test equipment and monitor system performance during test runsAccurately capture and document qualification data in structured systemsIdentify deviations, equipment inconsistencies, or unexpected results and escalate appropriatelyParticipate in structured feedback discussions during program ramp-up to improve robustnessand efficiencySupport implementation of approved procedural updatesMaintain clean, organized laboratory environmentsAssist with routine equipment checks and preventative maintenance activitiesWhat You BringIn your last semester or have obtained an Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Photonics,Optics, Electrical Engineering Technology, Physics, or related technical fieldOR equivalent hands-on industry experienceComfort working across multiple product types within structured test frameworksStrong procedural discipline and attention to detailWillingness to raise concerns and contribute to continuous improvement discussionsAbility to adapt to evolving procedures in a scaling environmentCleanroom experience preferredWhat Success Looks LikeConsistent, repeatable execution of qualification testing across diverse product typesClear, traceable documentation supporting pre-shipment qualification decisionsEarly identification and escalation of anomaliesProfessional collaboration across technical and operational teams
