Technical Product ManagerLocation: Amarillo, TXDepartment: Core Banking/TechnologyReports To: PresidentEmployment Type: Full TimeAbout the RoleWe are seeking an experienced Technical Product Manager to serve as the central orchestrator of our core banking modernization program. This is a high-visibility role reporting directly to the President, built for someone who can bridge the gap between executive leadership and engineering teams — translating business goals into delivery outcomes and holding the technical roadmap accountable.You will own the end-to-end delivery of strategic initiatives including core system modernization, Banking as a Service (BaaS) infrastructure, API framework buildouts in the cloud, and the stand-up of FedNow payment rails. You are not just a facilitator; you are the person the President relies on to keep complex, parallel initiatives moving with speed, quality, and clarity.Key ResponsibilitiesServe as the primary liaison between executive leadership (President) and engineering/technology teams, translating strategic priorities into clear, executable project plans.Orchestrate multiple concurrent core banking initiatives — including core modernization, API-driven cloud infrastructure, BaaS buildouts, and FedNow stand-up — ensuring dependencies are managed and timelines are met.Own and maintain the product and project roadmap; proactively surface risks, blockers, and trade-offs to leadership before they become delivery problems.Lead sprint planning, backlog grooming, stand-ups, and retrospectives; drive Agile/Scrum ceremonies across cross-functional teams.Define and track KPIs for delivery efficiency, product quality, and time-to-market; report progress clearly to the President.Conduct and lead technical design reviews; evaluate architectural decisions, API integrations, and cloud platform choices with engineering teams.Evaluate build vs. buy decisions and assess third-party platforms, payment processors, and cloud vendors.Author detailed product requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria that engineering teams can execute against without ambiguity.Manage direct reports on the project team; set expectations, provide feedback, and ensure accountability at every level.Maintain a pulse on industry trends in banking technology, payment rails, and cloud-native financial services to inform roadmap decisions.What Success Looks LikeAt 6 months:Core modernization workstreams are clearly scoped, resourced, and tracking to plan.API framework architecture is defined and initial cloud integrations are underway.FedNow stand-up project has a confirmed timeline and active delivery cadence.Executive reporting cadence is established; the President has clear, reliable visibility into all active initiatives.At 12 months:FedNow payment rails are live and operational.Core API hookups to cloud infrastructure are deployed and validated.Core banking modernization is on a defined multi-phase roadmap with measurable milestones completed.Delivery cycle time has measurably improved; the team operates with greater speed and predictability.Required Qualifications4+ years of experience in technical product or program management, with demonstrated ownership of complex, multi-workstream initiatives.Hands-on technical background — ideally a former developer or architect who has moved into product/program leadership and can credibly engage in code reviews, architectural discussions, and technical design sessions.Proven experience in financial services, banking technology, or fintech — familiarity with core banking platforms, payment systems, or regulatory environments strongly preferred.Experience with API-first architecture, cloud platform deployments (AWS, GCP, or Azure), and Banking as a Service models.Knowledge of payment rail standards and frameworks including FedNow, RTP, ACH, or SWIFT.Track record of delivering software products on time; able to manage scope, risk, and stakeholder expectations simultaneously.Strong Agile/Scrum fluency — comfortable running ceremonies, managing backlogs, and holding teams accountable to sprint commitments.Exceptional communicator — equally effective presenting to a President and working through technical trade-offs with engineers.Experience directly managing project team members with a coaching and accountability mindset.Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or equivalent practical experience.Preferred QualificationsPrior experience as a software engineer, solutions architect, or lead developer transitioning into a product/program leadership role.Familiarity with core banking platforms (e.g., FIS, Fiserv, Jack Henry, Temenos, or similar).Experience with DevOps pipelines, CI/CD practices, and microservices architecture in a financial services context.Working knowledge of compliance and audit requirements in banking environments (OCC, FDIC, BSA/AML).Certifications: CSPO, PMP, SAFe, or equivalent.MBA or advanced technical degree.What We OfferDirect access and visibility to executive leadership with meaningful strategic influence.The opportunity to shape a generational modernization of a core banking technology stack.Medical insurance: BOC covers 100% of the employee-only medical plan premium; dental and vision premiums are cost-shared between the bank and employee.Paid Time Off: 16 days/year to start, increasing to 21 days after 5 years and 26 days after 10 years of service; PTO accrual is negotiable at hire based on experience.Professional development budget and support for continued certifications.401(k) with matching contributions up to 5%.
