Ocean Freight Forwarding Manager

About the role: As the Ocean Freight Forwarding Manager for TQL Global, you will be partnering with our Director of Freight Forwarding and be directly responsible for the development and growth of our international ocean business. This includes overseeing the planning, coordination, and execution of all ocean freight operations. You’ll be leading a team of ocean operators, developing and growing relationships with steamship lines, and ensuring all shipments are processed efficiently and in compliance with international regulations. What’s in it for you: Negotiable base salary + annual bonuses + long-term incentive package Health, Dental and Vision coverage to best fit your needs, including a plan that takes $0 out of your paycheck + 401(k) with company match Opportunity to lead the ocean import/export business for one of the Top 10 largest North American logistics companies Comprehensive relocation package to Cincinnati, OH or Houston, TX Experience the award-winning culture of a Fortune 100 Best Companies to Work For (2023) and Forbes America’s Best Employers (2022) What you’ll be doing: Leading all aspects of our ocean freight forwarding operations, including booking, documentation, shipment tracking, troubleshooting, and delivering on customer expectations Developing, leading, and managing a team of ocean professionals to exceed performance targets and provide industry-leading customer service Reviewing and improving departmental and personalized objectives, expectations, and goals for the ocean operations team Assisting in developing and executing strategies to optimize ocean operations and improve efficiencies Building and maintaining strong relationships with ocean carriers, terminals, and other service providers Helping resolve issues with steamship lines, ports and container stations, and carriers Reviewing and negotiating rates and contracts with ocean carriers Ensuring compliance with applicable regulations, other government requirements and filings, and company standards Assisting in vendor management to ensure carriers and foreign agents are following proper protocols Communicating and verifying understanding and compliance of policies, procedures, and SOP’s to employees across the organization Performing operational tasks and/or offering coverage/support for team members when needed What you need: 5+ years of ocean freight forwarding experience 3+ years of leadership experience Familiarity with freight forwarding software and tools, CargoWise preferred In depth understanding of ocean freight forwarding operations at a mid-to-large organization Strong leadership abilities with a focus on performance management and employee development Ability to excel with strategic and tactical responsibilities Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Proven track record of delivering results in a fast-paced, high-performing environment Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, sense of urgency, and ability to prioritize tasks Deep understanding of applicable laws, regulations, and other government requirements Familiarity with freight forwarding software and tools, CargoWise preferred Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Economics, or related preferred Where you’ll be: 4289 Ivy Pointe Blvd, Cincinnati, OH 45245
