Bird Care Specialist

Overview: We are seeking Bird Care Specialist to join our team. This role is responsible for providing care and attention to our pheasants, ensuring their well-being and health. Roles and Responsibilities: 1. Ensure proper management of brooder barns · Preform preventative maintenance in the barn between groups of birds · Keep fans and brooders set at the appropriate levels · Monitor propane and feed use within each barn · Keep bedding clean and dry (top dress as needed) · Feeders and waters set and correct height and adjusted as birds grow · Ensure barn checks and chores are done daily · Test alarms weekly to ensure they are working · Adjust alarm settings as birds get older 2. Ensure all biosecurity measures are followed · Keep work rooms clean and organized · Maintain Danish entries in all workrooms · Footbaths filled with disinfectant daily · Keep inventories of foot gear and uniforms for all barns · Ensure all barns have their own foot gear and uniforms 3. Record keeping · Accurate records of barn mortality · Reconciliation of birds in barns vs actual number moved out · Verify number of chicks placed in the brooder barn · Record propane tank percentages weekly · Record feed inventories weekly Success is measured by: 1. Barn mortality (less than 10% based on actual move out numbers) 2. Efficiency of labor Qualifications: 1. Valid driver’s license or state ID 2. Available to work some weekends 3. Lift a minimum of 50 pounds 4. Experience raising livestock is a plus (not required) 5. Experience running a skid steer is a plus (not required) Required skills: 1. Self-motivated 2.
