HSA and FSA options Summary The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) coordinates and provides nursing care for residents and provides supervision and guidance to clinical staff members. Qualifications Education Graduate of an accredited LPN/LVN school of nursing. Licenses/Certification Valid LPN/LVN license in the state employed. Valid CPR certification. Experience One year of nursing experience preferred. Job Functions Document the resident's condition and nursing needs. Implement physicians' orders accurately and promptly. Assign nursing care to team members per resident needs and qualifications. Supervise, direct, and evaluate junior staff and CNAs. Administer medications and treatments; document as required by policy and regulations. Participate in orientation and in-service training. Ensure supplies are used economically and equipment is maintained safely. Report and record pertinent observations and reactions regarding residents. Coordinate nursing care when residents are scheduled for therapy or procedures. Assist in hiring processes; participate in counseling and disciplinary actions as permitted by state law. Supervise nursing unit scheduling and staffing as permitted by state act. Maintain inventory and communicate needs for housekeeping, maintenance, or dietary assistance. Perform other tasks as assigned. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Skilled in directing and motivating the workforce. Ability to work cooperatively as a team member. Effective communication with residents, families, and colleagues. Ability to react decisively in emergency situations. Knowledge of training techniques for clinical staff.
