Asssistant Home Shopping Manager
Position PurposeThe Assistant Deli Manager supports the Deli Manager in overseeing all deli operations, ensuring high-quality food preparation, excellent customer service, and a clean, well-stocked department. This role assists in driving sales, managing inventory, and leading associates while maintaining strict food safety standards.Key ResponsibilitiesDepartment OperationsAssist in managing daily deli operations including food preparation, slicing, packaging, and merchandisingEnsure all products meet freshness, quality, and presentation standardsMaintain attractive and full service cases and grab-and-go displaysExecute pricing, signage, and promotional programsLeadership & Team SupportSupport hiring, training, and development of deli associatesProvide direction, coaching, and performance feedbackPromote a positive, team-oriented work environmentAct as department lead in the absence of the Deli ManagerCustomer ServiceDeliver outstanding customer service and ensure prompt service at deli countersAssist customers with product selection, special orders, and inquiriesResolve customer concerns quickly and professionallyMaintain a clean, welcoming department appearanceFood Safety & ComplianceEnforce all food safety, sanitation, and temperature control standardsEnsure compliance with all health regulations and company policiesMonitor proper food handling, storage, labeling, and rotation practicesInventory & Shrink ControlAssist with ordering, receiving, and inventory trackingMonitor sales trends to maintain proper stock levels and minimize wasteControl shrink through accurate portioning, rotation, and markdownsEnsure accurate pricing and product labelingProduction & Quality ControlOversee preparation of deli items including hot foods, salads, and ready-to-eat mealsEnsure consistency, portion control, and recipe adherenceMaintain high standards for cleanliness in prep and service areasQualificationsPrevious deli, food service, or perishable department experience preferredPrior supervisory or leadership experience is a plusKnowledge of food safety and sanitation standardsStrong organizational and multitasking skillsExcellent customer service and communication abilitiesPhysical RequirementsAbility to lift and carry up to 50 lbsFrequent standing, walking, bending, and reachingAbility to work in hot, cold, and wet environmentsWork EnvironmentFast-paced retail and food production settingExposure to hot equipment, refrigerated cases, and sharp toolsFlexible schedule including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays
