We’ve always shared available resources to save as many out-of-county animals as possible…and we won’t stop until all Hoosier animals have a chance to live, love, and be loved.Role DescriptionThe Intake & Adoption Counselor is a full-time, on-site role located in Fishers, IN. The Humane Society for Hamilton County is hiring an Intake & Adoption Counselor to help guide adopters, support pet owners, process intakes, reunite lost pets, and create an exceptional experience for every guest who walks through our doors. This role is perfect for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, brings strong customer service skills, and wants to make a meaningful impact every single day.Duties and ResponsibilitiesIn this role, you will:Welcome guests and direct them to the right area of the buildingAnswer phones, return messages, and respond to emails in a timely mannerPre-approve adoption applications and help match adopters with the right animalsFinalize adoption paperwork and guide customers through the processProcess intake paperwork with compassion and professionalismSupport lost-and-found reunification effortsEducate the public about animal welfare and shelter servicesEnter and manage accurate records in PetPoint and related systemsProcess donations and assist with document organizationReconcile cash drawers and credit card totals at the end of the dayKeep public-facing spaces clean, welcoming, and organizedWork closely with other departments to ensure smooth daily operationsQualifications:You may be a great fit if you:Have at least 1 year of customer service experienceCommunicate with warmth, professionalism, and confidenceAre comfortable juggling multiple priorities in a busy environmentCan stay calm and solution-focused during difficult or emotional situationsEnjoy helping people as much as helping animalsAre comfortable with computers, email, Microsoft Office, and data entry systemsAre available to work nights and weekendsThrive in a fast-moving setting with animal sounds, smells, and allergensBelieve in a positive, whatever-it-takes cultureSupport and embrace a No-Kill philosophyFear Free Certification is preferred, or the ability to become certified is required.What You’ll Love About Working HereBecause the Humane Society for Hamilton County is committed to the success and overall well-being of our team, we are proud to offer our full-time employees the following comprehensive benefits package:Medical Insurance: HSHC pays a flat amount toward each, full-time employee’s individual medical premium to make this benefit affordable.
