This position is funded through either department funds or Federal Work Study (FWS) funds. Students who are not eligible for FWS are still encouraged to apply, as department funding may be available.Manager: Hunter RudLocation: Elmen CenterHours: 4-6 hours per weekPosition Duration: Academic YearPURPOSE OF JOB:The purpose of this position is to administer and officiate at scheduled intramural games and matches. In addition the intramural officials should be actively involved with promoting the Recreational Services department, programs, and mission.SPECIAL SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS, and TRAINING REQUIRED FOR JOB:An official must have strong people and communication skills and posses the ability to solve problems quickly. It would be beneficial to have knowledge of the game that is being officiated but that is not required. An official must have a certain amount of organizational skills and have a desire to learn and grow in their understanding of the position. Current CPR, AED, and First Aid certifications are preferred.SPECIFIC JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:Administrative:The intramural official will be expected to:Attend monthly position training sessions, and other meetings as needed and indicated by the Director of Recreational Services.Be accountable for hour's assigned, approving substitutions with the recreation coordinator and team leader.Arrive 15 minutes early for assigned shifts. Be prepared to stay until all necessary job responsibilities are completed at the end of a shift.Accurately and thoroughly complete the appropriate officials checklists during each shift.Adhere to and enforce all intramural policies.Emergency:The intramural official will be aware of all emergency procedures for the recreation facility and be prepared to:Observe regular fire and tornado procedures, including evacuating the building or directing people to the appropriate location inside the building.Respond to, and manage appropriately according to the emergency plan, any injury, rescue situation, and/or blood spill.Know emergency numbers and immediately make use of these numbers when emergency situations arise (Campus Safety #4014, Police/Fire #9-911).Security:The intramural official will:Check all playing surfaces before and after intramural activities to ensure that they are safe for play.Be sure all intramural participants have safely participated in the activity and exited the activity setting.Ensure that equipment is kept in good condition according to department policy.Properly shut-down, lock, and return equipment to the designated spot.Supervisory/Leadership:The intramural official will adhere to the following guidelines:Promote Recreational Services programs and facilities.Start games in a timely manner.Organize teams and conduct a pre-game captain's meeting.Interpret and enforce rules of any given sport.Maintain proper control of each intramural activity.Create a positive intramural atmosphere/environment that enhances wow experiences.Passionate about their purpose and role as an intramural official, and display a servant heart.ProtocolThe intramural official will adhere to the following guidelines:Be prepared to be active and dress appropriately.All officials will wear a Recreational Services provided officials jersey.Officials are expected to be active in calling games.Maintain a professionalism that adheres to the Recreational Services department Mission and Values.Relationship with Student Employment Supervisor (who student will report to):The intramural official will report to the Intramural Supervisor, Intramural graduate assistant, and the Director of Recreational Services.Miscellaneous:The intramural official will follow the specific position job responsibilities as outlined in the intramural manual.Method of Evaluation:
