Tutorials may be scheduled during the school day with flexible hours and may include some before and after school tutoring sessions as per the campus principal or principal's designee.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSEducation and Certification RequirementsCollege/University student majoring or minoring in the field of education or academic field, i.e. English Language Arts, Reading Math, Science or Social StudiesCandidates must have satisfactory outcome of fingerprinting background checkSpecial Knowledge and SkillsPossess excellent communication skills to include ability to work well with children, teenagers, and adultsDemonstrate competence in the core content areas English Language Arts, Reading Math, Science or Social StudiesAbility to be prompt and have reliable attendance on scheduled daysExcellent presentation skills, organization skills, and basic technology skillsExperience:Minimum of thirty (30) semester hours of college or currently enrolled in a teacher education programPrior classroom teaching experienceValid Texas teaching certification, if applicableMAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:(The following statements describe the general purpose and responsibilities assigned and should not be construed as an exhaustive list of all responsibilities, skills, efforts, or working conditions that may be assigned or skills that may be required.)Attend training/meeting in the specific JISD locationFacilitate tutorial sessions in math, English Language Arts, Reading Math, Science or Social StudiesManage learning materials and assist in student materials for specific lessonsRelate positively to students and develop mutually respectful relationshipsMaintain confidentiality of students and achievementUse technology to strengthen the teaching/learning process where availableAssess student progress and communicate frequently and honestly with the principal or designee regarding student progress and areas of success and/or concernReview student data and plan with teacher of recordBecome familiar with the curriculum, book libraries and instructional materials used by the campusSet an example of personal excellence and high expectations for the studentsDemonstrate a commitment to ensure the academic and social/personal success of each studentModel goal setting and the effective organizational/personal conceptsCompile, maintain, and file all reports, records and other documents requiredAct as a role model in behavior and appropriate attire at all timesPerform other duties as assigned, based on department needsRequires a basic knowledge of technology/computer skillsAbility to use personal computer to access district programs, emails, and other resourcesMaintain a consistent professional demeanor and appearanceEnsure compliance with the Texas Educator's Code of EthicsDaily attendance and punctuality at work are essential functions of the jobSupervisory Responsibilities:N/AEquipment Used:Office equipment - personal computer, printer, calculator, multi-line telephone, software programs and peripherals, copier, fax, and other equipment applicable to positionMental Demands:Ability to read, concentrate, communicate (verbally and written), interpret, reason, understand verbal instructions, memorize, coordinate, compile, computeWork with frequent interruptions and maintain emotional control under stressPhysical Demands:Frequent: Sitting, standing, walking, climbing stairs and/or ramps, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, pulling, pushing, reaching, repetitive hand motions, hearing, speaking clearly, visual acuity, distinguishing colors, driving, travelingOccasional: Lifting, moderate, 15-44 poundsEnvironmental Factors:Frequent exposure to temperature extremes (hot and cold), humidity extremes, noise, low or intense illumination, vibrationOccasional exposure to biological hazards (communicable diseases, bacteria, insects, mold, fungi, etc.)Work alone, work prolonged or irregular hoursNondiscrimination Statement:
