College & Career Readiness Specialist
ResponsibilitiesStudent EngagementRecruit 9th–12th grade students for the Bridge 2 College and Careers Program. Carry a defined full caseload of 75 students with docummented advising plans for each student Facilitate interactive workshops that teach about college access topics including applications (CUNY, SUNY, Common App), essay writing, financial aid (FAFSA, TAP, CSS Profile), and scholarship searches. Support students one-on-one and in small groups with completing college applications (CUNY, SUNY, Common App, HBCU Common App) Support students and families one-on-one and in small groups with completing financial aid applications (FAFSA, TAP, CSS Profile) Provide individualized advising to students and families on college and career planning. Write recommendation letters and support students in securing additional references. Establish a comfortable learning environment and implement clear, consistent age-appropriate expectations and rules. Maintain classroom cleanliness and organization. Support with updating and helping to improve the college access curriculum materials and provide insightful feedback on the scope and sequence when necessary Provide transition support to the College Persistence Specialist by connecting them with the seniors on your caseload Build and maintain relationships with colleges, scholarship organizations, and community partners Family and Community EngagementLead parent workshops on college admissions and financial aid processes including FAFSA, TAP and CSS Profile completion. Collaborate with school staff, Phipps team members, and external partners to support student success. Represent the program professionally in all communications. Events and EnrichmentCoordinate and chaperone college tours, fairs, and overnight trips. Support planning and execution of college and career readiness events. Collaborate with WE division to support additional B2CC initiatives Administration and Data ManagementMaintain student records and track their progress in Salesforce. Attend staff meetings and professional development sessions. Enforce program policies and manage materials and technology use. Compile program outcome data (enrollment rates, FAFSA completion, CUNY/SUNY application completion, scholarship totals) and present reports to program leadership. Perform additional duties as assigned by the Program Leadership. QualificationsEducationMust have 60 college credits completed and currently enrolled in college program; bachelor's degree preferred Experience And SkillsFamiliarity with NYC public school system and college application process 2–3 years of relevant experience in college access, youth development, or school counseling Experience in youth development, lesson planning, or student advising Strong communication and classroom management skills Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Salesforce Social media fluency (Instagram/Facebook) Preferred AttributesBilingual (Spanish) Creative, proactive, and organized High initiative and urgency Grant reporting, data analysis, and curriculum development as expected competencies.
