Security Officer/Driver

Position Summary
The Security Officer/Driver ensures the safety and security of The Piney Woods School campus while also providing reliable transportation for students, staff, and guests as needed. This dual-role position requires professionalism, alertness, and a commitment to maintaining a secure, orderly, and mission-aligned school environment.
Key Responsibilities
Campus Safety & Security
Patrol school grounds and buildings to deter, detect, and respond to unauthorized activity or safety concerns.
Monitor surveillance systems, access points, and alarm systems to ensure campus security.
Assist with enforcing school rules, curfew, and conduct expectations for students.
Respond to emergencies, incidents, and medical situations following established protocols.
Complete and maintain detailed incident reports and daily activity logs.
Support a visible and approachable presence across campus to promote a safe and respectful atmosphere.
Transportation & Driving Duties
Safely transport students, staff, or guests to appointments, events, airport transfers, or other approved off-campus activities.
Operate school-owned vehicles, including vans and buses, in accordance with traffic laws and school policies.
Ensure vehicles are clean, fueled, and well-maintained; report any mechanical issues promptly.
Assist with student arrival, dismissal, and weekend or break transportation coordination.
General Support
Assist with special events, visitor check-ins, parking management, and other campus logistics.
Collaborate with other departments (residential life, academics, facilities) to support campus operations.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Security Supervisor or administration.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Prior experience in security, law enforcement, military, or school safety preferred.
Valid Mississippi driver’s license and clean driving record required.
CDL with passenger endorsement preferred or willingness to obtain one.

Strong observation skills and attention to detail.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to remain calm and make sound decisions in high-pressure or emergency situations.
Basic computer literacy for reporting and communication purposes.
Trustworthy, dependable, and committed to student safety and confidentiality.
Work Environment
Indoor and outdoor work across various weather conditions. Shift-based schedule may include evenings, nights, weekends, or holidays. Physical tasks may include walking, standing, lifting up to 40 lbs, and vehicle operation.
