Qualified applicant must hold a valid/registered Illinois teaching license.Performance ResponsibilitiesConfirm and complete all paperwork for practice locationsSend registration to all athletesObserve/follow all area and state imposed deadlinesFamiliarize/follow all Special Olympics rules for practices, participation, and volunteer usageAttend training sessions to become a registered coachAttend SIO certification workshopsComplete all registration for area meetsComplete and submit individual assessment forms for each athleteMeet with assistant coaches; check to see if they have submitted the required paperwork to the coordinator/stateObtain an appropriate number of registered volunteers for all practices and eventsInform athletes/parents of practice schedule/locationPracticeSet up the physical area with equipmentDevelop the record sheets needed to obtain competition dataAssign and explain responsibilities to all assistant coaches and volunteers prior to each practiceRun each practice in a timely and sage mannerCollect, clean up, and store equipment at the end of each practiceWait until all athletes have leftAdjust the scheduling of practice due to weather, facility requirements/closures, or personal conflictsComplete State forms with data obtained from practice, observing all rules and regulations imposed by Special OlympicsCommunicate the transportation, food, and scheduling needs to the Special Olympics CoordinatorInform parents/athletes of transportation and event schedulesObtain uniforms (all needed parts of the uniform), determine sizes, package, and pass out to all athletes, coaches, and volunteersAfter receiving event schedules: determine athlete groupings, make coach and volunteer assignments, assign responsibilities, schedule meals (where to get food from and obtain money), and inform parents of individual event schedulesVerify transportation arrangements prior to event, assign coaches to pick up/drop off sitesResponsible for assuring that all athletes are appropriately scheduled, supervised and where they are supposed to be and at the correct timeUnderstand the rules and able to protest a result during competitionCollect data from competition and report it appropriatelyDetermine regional/state qualifies and notify their parentsComplete the process again to ready athletes who qualified for the next meet
