Each Green Corner (EGC) is a non-profit organization based in San Mateo County that designs, installs and assists in maintaining food-producing gardens at school sites and non-profit community centers, with produce directly feeding the site community in need and/or harvested by EGC for donation to non-profit food distribution partners. EGC’s mission also includes educating and increasing awareness around issues of food security, nutrition, public health, mental and physical health, sustainability, and the intersection of all of these issues with urban agriculture. To learn more about EGC programs and services please visit: https://eachgreencorner.org.Position OverviewEGC seeks an enthusiastic, outdoor-oriented professional passionate about teaching, leading and inspiring youth and communities to build healthier, more resilient communities through sustainable urban agriculture. As an EGC Food Systems Educator, you will teach and lead school-based youth and community volunteers by:Leading students in EGC’s Food Explorers Program curriculum introducing food systems and their impact on health, nutrition, and the environment;Leading student groups (e.g. school Green Teams) and/or community members in mission-related activities in the garden; Maintaining and improving a portfolio of school- and community center-based garden sites, including weeding, planting, pruning, implementing natural pest control methods, and harvesting in the garden as well as task, inventory, and materials management (training provided);Preparing for and leading weekend volunteer work days);Collaborating with site administrators, staff, and communities to align garden-based activities and improvements with EGC’s and Site’s shared goals;Documenting garden progress and community engagement via photographs, videos, and interviews;Serving as hub for site/project-specific collaborations between operations, design, communications and development teams;Developing educational and outreach materials (virtual and on-site) to enhance site- and program-specific goals;Collaborating with EGC operations team and agricultural advisors to create seasonal planting lists across sites and manage seedling inventories;Managing data collection at assigned sites/events to measure our programs’ impacts;Other program-related activities as needed.This position requires a regular schedule of on-site work within San Mateo County for a minimum of one weekly 7-hour weekday plus one Saturday per month. Additional hours, up to 35-hours per week position may be available. Approximately 90% of time is on-site, and approximately 10% of time is remote. Candidates should have:Commitment to job for the ‘26-27 academic year (September 1, 2026 through mid-June 2026); hours during summer 2026 may be available;Positive, collaborative approach with a passion for urban agriculture, food security, education, community building, and/or environmental/sustainability issues;Ability and enthusiasm for sustained periods of outdoor manual labor in all weather conditions, including independently lifting 50+ lbs, gardening tasks, light carpentry work, shoveling, maneuvering loaded wheelbarrows, and other tasks as required;Experience and desire to lead students age 4-18 in direct instruction as well as hands-on garden-based activities;Excitement to work with and lead volunteers from a variety of backgrounds, ages, and skill levels;Bachelor’s Degree or comparable experience in program management, education, public health, environmental justice/sustainability, agriculture, or related field;Experience working in schools and/or community-based agencies serving youth;Attention to professionalism and cultural competence with experience working across a diverse range of populations;Willingness to regularly work weekends;Reliable access to transportation to assigned sites throughout San Mateo County, including moving between sites during the day;Possession of a valid driver’s license, and proof of automobile insurance;Familiarity with G Suite platform;An ability to work independently to execute tasks, while seeking support and feedback as appropriate; and Bilingual in Spanish and English a plus.Compensation:$25/hour;Healthcare benefits (medical, dental, vision) reimbursement of up to $300/month;Full-time employees (35+ hrs per week) receive paid holidays and additional PTO.To apply, please submit a resume and a cover letter detailing your interest in our work through this listing or directly to admin@eachgreencorner.org.
