Our team utilizes their expertise and ingenuity to create innovative original concepts or provide creative solutions to existing high-performance designs Summary Procurement professional ensures high-quality, cost-effective products through strategic sourcing and supplier management. Utilizes extensive internal engine knowledge to meet business needs and collaborate with Engineering and Production to select top-tier suppliers. Essential Job Functions (Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities): Extensive knowledge of internal combustion engines and parts Process internal purchase requisitions to support our custom Marine Department Identify appropriate potential vendors for required components or services Create and Maintain Bills of Material with assistance from Engineering and Sales Groups Monitor inventory usage and take actions to prevent part shortages Create and maintain purchasing documents, quotes, and supplier records Communicate and maintain relationships with both suppliers and production team regarding shipments, inventory, and deliveries Regularly review and report on Past Due List and contact suppliers for updates and recovery plans Create and update weekly inventory reports to advise management on current supply situations and identify any potential future issues Order parts in line with MRP and forecasted demands Evaluate quotes and negotiate supplier agreements that result in improvements in suppliers’ cost, delivery, quality, part lead time, and/or payment terms. Negotiate and settle damage claims, rejections, losses, returns of material, over-shipments, cancellations, and engineering changes with suppliers. Work to reduce overall Supply Chain Costs and Risks. Prepare reports by collecting, analyzing and summarizing information and trends. Support our Marine Sales, Service, and Engineering teams by providing timely information. Work closely with our Engineering and Operations teams to prepares RFQs Research and Resolve cost related issues with the Accounting Team Other duties as assigned Desired Qualifications Experience in purchasing engine components and related parts An ability to read and interpret technical prints and work with engineering in communicating design changes and written deviations to our supply base Business system experience: working in an ERP environment essential (Epicor knowledge a plus) Understanding of the impact of supply chain decisions on manufacturing processes Experience and understanding of Quality systems, such as ISO, PPAP, and FMEA a plus Bachelor`s Degree in Business or Supply Chain Management or related previous work experience Physical Requirements/Work Environment: Travel, estimated 10-15% The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 20 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit or stand. The employee is frequently required to use their hands and fingers to handle, feel objects, use tools or controls and climb or balance. The employee is occasionally required to walk, reach with hands and arms, kneel crouch, crawl and talk or hear. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, risk of electric shock and explosives. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. However, some instances of this job may require work in areas where ear protection is necessary, such as on supplier sites, or visiting our manufacturing center.
