OVERVIEWMariners Community Church is seeking a passionate and dynamic Lead Pastor who will shepherd our congregation and engage with our unchurched community. The ideal candidate will embody our core values and vision for the future, fostering spiritual growth, involvement in the church, and outreach. Our goal is to cultivate a thriving and vibrant church environment that inspires individuals and families to connect with Jesus and each other.KEY RESPONSIBILITIESThe church aspires to be more involved in outreach initiatives aimed at strengthening connections within the Coastside communities. Through various programs and activities, Mariners Church works to serve those in need, provide support to unchurched individuals, and create opportunities for fellowship and growth.1. Vision, Strategic Planning, & CultureCollaborate with church leadership to articulate a clear vision and strategic plan for spiritual growth and outreach.Analyze metrics related to church engagement and effectiveness, adapting strategies as needed to meet the congregation's needs.Strategic planning and long-term vision development, including setting measurable goals for ministry impact and growth.Maintain a culture of openness and authenticity, encouraging families to worship together.Inspire a spirit of volunteerism, ensuring that members are actively engaged in ministry and outreach opportunities.2. Teaching, Shepherding, & DiscipleshipProvide spiritual leadership and pastoral care to the congregation, fostering spiritual growth throughout the church bodyDeliver compelling and biblically sound messages that deepen the understanding of Scripture among all agesMentor and disciple members, encouraging them to grow in faith and serviceMentor ministry leaders and congregants to strengthen church growth and discipleshipTeach stewardship and financial literacy to the congregation and empower members to contribute generously3. Leadership & ManagementGuide Steering Team and entire membership to understand and align with the Mariners Community Church constitution and bylaws as a body of Christ’s church with worldly business and operational needsProvide guidance, direction, and accountability for Mariner’s staff, providing oversight and appropriate levels of delegationPossess emotional Intelligence, interpersonal skills, and leadership capacity to manage and encourage effective relationships throughout the church body Have effective crisis management and conflict resolution skills, with an ability to navigate difficult situationsLead and manage diverse ministry teams, fostering a culture of integrity, collaboration, accountability, and innovationOversee business operations and administration Facilitate the creation and support leadership of new ministry initiatives that align with church values and missionDevelop effective staff and ministry teams through mentoring, training, and performance managementLead a clear strategy for developing future leaders within the church preparing for transitions and ensuring sustainability of ministries 4. Ministry & Worship DevelopmentDevelop Bible-based sermon series and strategic ministry initiatives that resonate with our congregation and communityWork with the Worship Team to create and maintain inspiring worship experiences that glorify God and foster deep, heartfelt connections among attendeesPractice judgment on how to address sensitive issues and/or events appropriately, effectively, and non-politically5. Community EngagementRepresent the church in the local community, alongside other members and other church leaders, actively engaging in outreach efforts to reach unchurched individuals and families.Develop, implement, and promote programs that expand our church's influence in the Coastside and surrounding communitiesQUALIFICATIONSA deep commitment to Christ and a strong understanding of ScriptureProven experience in pastoral ministry, leadership, and managementStrong preaching and teaching abilities, with a passion for developing others’ spiritual giftsExcellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a track record of community outreach and engagementAn advanced degree in theology or ministry (or working towards it) Ability to connect with a diverse demographic, including youth, families, and the unchurchedCHARACTER TRAITSVisionary and strategic thinker with a passion for ChristCompassionate and kind-hearted, demonstrating a strong moral compassEnthusiastic, proactive, curious life-long learner, with an ability to inspire others toward a common mission Community-minded and committed to outreach and serviceHumble, approachable, and adaptable, willing to collaborate with church staff and volunteersCOMPENSATIONBase salary range starts at 125K and up, commensurate with experienceMedical benefitsFlexible Spending Account (HRA)403(b) with 3% match
