IT and Network Systems Specialist

WTTW (Chicago PBS) and WFMT (classical music radio station) are seeking a full-time IT and Network Systems Specialist. The IT Specialist assists with the delivery of Information Technology services across WTTW/WFMT. This includes IT system architecture, security process and protection, user and system configurations, as well as management of hardware and software updates. The position is responsible for the day-to-day IT help desk, and trouble ticketing. The position configures and supports IT solutions for desktop and enterprise-level systems. This includes IT security, interconnection with our enterprise and broadcast systems, business solution applications, database structure and backups, and cloud applications. Support for disaster recovery process documentation, business continuity planning, as well as credential and authentication process development and system monitoring. The position requires excellent communication, collaboration, and troubleshooting skills. Technical expertise in IT infrastructure and knowledge of cybersecurity considerations are required, as well as an organized ability to administer all IT processes and documentation.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:• Maintain the IT infrastructure (on-prem and cloud-based), desktop and mobile technologies, security configuration, VPN logging, help desk, trouble ticketing, vendor and staff connectivity.• Assist with configuration of network systems, data management, telephony interface, log-in processes, overall daily operations, and system inventory process.• Coordinate IT technical solutions with HR, broadcast, digital, and other adjacent departments across the organization.• Work with the Managed Service Provider to monitor the Virtual Machines and storage databases.• Monitor data backup systems, frequency, and restore processes.• Capture and create documentation on network storage drives.• Identify and support timely software updates for servers and local PCs.• Inventory hardware and keep track of IT systems.• Collaborate daily with the overall team and contribute enthusiasm and a sense of urgency to accomplish goals.• Maintain the server room and IT technical areas to be clean and organized, and perform other duties as assigned.SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:• 5 years of IT desk-top and networking experience• Basic understanding of IT architecture, infrastructure, cloud, VM systems, DNS configuration, data backup, EDR security, jump boxes, VPN control, routing and logging• Knowledge of endpoint security, active EDR systems and configuration• Ability to operate a highly functional and responsive trouble ticket and IT help desk• Hands-on experience identifying, scheduling, and installing software patches with fallback/recovery considerations• Ability to complete several tasks simultaneously with various cross-department stakeholders• Ability to document systems and configurations• Cross-department communication skillsREQUIREMENTS:• Degree in IT, IS, or related field• Must be able to troubleshoot systems and PC's• Ability to create spreadsheets and documents• Ability to make progress in ambiguity, forging ahead• Availability and willingness to work non-standard shifts as needed• Must be able to make decisions and solve problems independentlyESTIMATED SALARY RANGE: starting at $78,000 - $95,000/annualWTTW and WFMT is committed to providing comprehensive and affordable benefits.
