We’re hiring engineers, designers, operators, and builders who want to move fast, take on extreme ownership, and get capability into the hands of warfighters in months, not years.What You Will Be DoingNeros is seeking a Operator Interface Design Engineer to contribute to the design of new peripheral systems including display systems, handsets and ground control systems. This is a hands-on, cross-functional, highly technical role that blends hardware and human factors engineering with validation, debugging, and manufacturing support. You will be a key part of Neros' Peripherals Team.The Operator Interface Design Engineer will oversee projects/products from the proof of concept phase, through design and implementation with DFM in-mind and PFMEA ownership. They will work closely with the rest of the Peripherals Engineering team at all levels of the engineering lifecycle. This role will play a large part in the development, manufacturing and support of new products at Neros.Key ResponsibilitiesBlend form, function and DFM requirements to create conceptual designs, and work with the rest of the Peripherals Engineering Team to implement final designsUtilize skills related to molding, tolerance stack up, thermal design, waterproofing and shock handling into product designsUtilize Human Factors Engineering and interaction design philosophies to design products meant for battlefield useAssist in the development of product requirementsConduct testing, including FPV flights, and provide technical feedback, focusing on peripheral systemsDevelop and retain a deep understanding of product functionality and capabilitiesCollaborate with engineers on air, ground and peripheral systems, assisting in design feedback, testing, and refinementWork on precision soldering, mechanical assembly, 3D printing, and related tasks to support rapid prototypes, iteration and testingAssist in developing and improving test procedures and safety protocolsYou should have the followingBachelor’s or Master’s degree in Industrial Design, Engineering or a related discipline2+ years of design experienceProven ability to implement human factors engineering principlesKnowledge or interest in FPV drones or UAVsAbility to create product concepts, renderings, and work with electrical and mechanical engineers to make those concepts realityAbility to take product concepts from idea to prototype, using modeling/rendering software, 3D printing, fabrication, soldering and other laboratory skillsAbility to support the engineering lifecycle of a product through design, engineering, manufacturing and future changesExcellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical information to executive stakeholders clearly and effectivelyNice to haveFPV pilotPart 107 (or ability to get one within 4 weeks of starting)SolidworksUS Salary Range$100,000 - $150,000 USDThe salary range for this role is an estimate based on a wide range of compensation factors, inclusive of base salary only. Actual salary may vary based on (but not limited to) work experience, education and/or training, critical skills, and/or business considerations.
