Apply Here: https://talentarbor.com/job/details/138330/3/26/regulatory-rates-analyst-holmdel-nj-usLocation: Holmdel or Morristown, NJ – (4 days onsite, 1 remote)This role is a Utility Regulatory Rates Analyst position focused on utility pricing, rate cases, regulatory filings, and financial analysis for the energy/utility industryPosition OverviewThe Regulatory Rates Analyst (Contractor) supports the Rates and Regulatory Affairs organization in the preparation, analysis, and execution of regulatory filings, rate designs, and compliance activities. This role provides critical analytical and project support for rate cases, riders, tariff updates, and regulatory reporting to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and alignment with regulatory requirements and company objectives.The Analyst works closely with internal stakeholders across Finance, Accounting, FP&A, Tax, Legal, Operations, Engineering, and Customer organizations to support regulatory initiatives and respond to information requests from the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities (BPU) and other parties. The position requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple workstreams in a fast paced regulatory environment.Key ResponsibilitiesSupport the development of rate cases, cost recovery mechanisms, riders, and other regulatory filings through financial analysis, data validation, and documentation preparation.Perform studies, revenue requirement analyses, and rate impact calculations under the direction of the Manager Rates and Regulatory Affairs and senior staff.Assist in the preparation and maintenance of tariffs, schedules, and supporting workpapers in compliance with BPU orders and regulatory guidelines.Compile, analyze, and validate large datasets from Accounting, FP&A, Operations, Engineering, Customer, and operational systems to support regulatory filings and responses to data requests.Prepare draft testimony, exhibits, schedules, and narratives for regulatory proceedings and settlements.Coordinate responses to discovery requests and information inquiries from regulators, consumer advocates, and internal stakeholders.Monitor regulatory orders, filings, and policy developments and summarize impacts for the Manager and broader regulatory team.Required QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Mathematics, Business, or a related field.3–7 years of experience in utility rates, regulatory support, financial analysis, or a related analytical role (utility or regulated industry experience strongly preferred).Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial and operational data accurately.Proficiency in Excel and financial modeling; experience with regulatory models and large datasets.Familiarity with utility ratemaking principles, cost of service concepts, and regulatory processes preferred.
